I have dislocated my shoulder two times in the last four months. I am currently waiting to see if i need sugury. this post is asking all of you...what work out have been successful for you. so if you have any please share them with me and the rest of the boaters out there.

This question should be directed to your doctor and not to non-profetionals. Shoulder injuries are a compelx issue. Your shoulder is like a golfball on a tee. It is a highly unstable join, as I am sure you are finding out. YOU SHOULD NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM ANYONE BUT YOUR DOCTOR. Please understand the fact that although others may mean well, they can easily make dangerous suggestons. Every shoulder injury is diffrent and there are multiple structures which could be damaged... each of them needing different therapy and approaches. Please do yourself a favor and others with shoulder injuries out there and seek profetional help. I am saying this as a former Athletic Training student with many hours of clinical experience.

a doc is proberly best but when i had shoulder problems i got them pulled back and some dislocation is due to bad posture i was told but my physio

follow your doctor's and therapit's advice like it's your job

make it perfectly clear to both of them that you want to be a kayaker for a very long time. I mention this because the usual concept of acceptable strength and range of motion for an average person is not the same for someone who wants to continue kayaking. If the doc and therapist know what you intend to do, then they will be able to help you much better.

I was fotunate enough to have a surgeon who is a golf and tennis fanatic, therefore understands that there are some things that cannot be given up.
Also had a physical therapy team who works with many high school and college sports teams, and everyone in the office was very happy when I brought in a bunch of DVD for them to watch, so that they would better understand my goals.

Good luck. At least we are going into winter and you can have a good long recovery time before spring.
