I was wondering if anyone has any links or information about how to become a kayak instuctor, age limits, getting the licences....any links to this information would be greatly appriciated

One would need to know what country you are in and possibly which state or province. I know that regulations or standards change from province to province in Canada and from state to state in the US.

the coaching system in uk is currently changing. you must now be qualified in canoeing and kayaking to become a coach. as well as having bcu canoe safety and first aid certificate. these new rules come in to effect in january.

In the US, your best bet is probably the ACA - www.acanet.org/instruction/kayak_instruction.lasso.

Not all employers require ACA certification but it is good to have anyway. You might also want to look into getting a swiftwater rescue cert, but again, not everyone requires it.

You WILL need up-to-date CPR and first aid certifications, at the very least.

Most outfitters/kayak schools require that their instructors be over 18, for insurance and liablity purposes.

get the ACA cert.

then get your Maine Trip Leader's Permit.

yah im thinking about having a bussiness up here when i get older..I was really wondering what i needed to go through..thanks for your help guys
