Hey

I went in early Feb a few years back. Genrally good from Nov well through Feb. Bring a longsleeve drytop, waters temps are super diverse, some super warm and others frigid. The trwo main towns we stayed in were Tenya and Baeza. We liked both, but I liked Baeza the best due the the quiet feel. Be sure to stop by Gina's resteaunt when you go there. Good eats cool people

I strongly recomend grabbing this guide book:

www.smallworldadventures.com/ecuador.html#book

also here is a good read from some Euros...

Have fun Bro, Im super jealous

I spent 3 months there a few years back (Oct - December).

Started of in Tena - great place to base from for a couple of weeks and take in day trips in the area (Jutanyacu III, Upper & Lower Mishualli IV, Hollin IV, Upper Jondachi IV/V?).

Headed to Montenita on the coast for a week surfing - warm water, crap weather and found the place quite grim (my opinion - sorry!).

We then headed back inland to Baeza for two weeks and ran multiple (6) sections of the Quijos (III/IV/V) and the Consagna (IV). Top rivers.

Had a short stay in Banos and ran a commercial river there (Patate III), but also had a superb run down the Topo (IV/V).

AFter a brief interlude of climbing and taking time off boating we headed south to run the multiday Upano from Macas as a selft supported trip. Twice.

Then back to Quito for a few days and headed east, took in the Upper Toachi (IV) which was disgustingly filthy. This shorten our stay in the area as it put us off so much so we headed to Canoa on the coast which was superb.

For a finale I headed back to Banos and ran the Verde Chico (V/VI) which I wouldn't suggest! V steep low volume creek with lots of un-runnable. We abandoned the run 2kms and 4 hours after we put on and had to head back with climbing gear in the morning to retrieve our boats.

Levels were all med - low apart from the multiday Upano which went off the scale (we talked to an American who had run it and he said 14 on the guage at one of the bridges would indicate high water but we should expect 8-9 at the time of year we were there. It was over 24. And scary!).

Shout up if you want any more info as I wrote a trip report which I could send you a copy of.
