Muffins! Blue Berry Muffin and a Chocolate Muffin! I always take atleast 2 with me if I plan to be out more than a couple of hours. They are full of everything you need and are pretty filling for how small they can be. Plus, they taste great!

we used to make our own muesli bars - you can put whatever you like in them - almonds, macadamias, dried cranberries and chocolate chips is a favourite. You then vacuum seal them, and they are completely waterproof, and last for months

steff

Biltong and Haribo.

Biltong - sun dried beef like jerky but not spicy (unless you buy spicy...) luckily available in the UK.

Also cuppa soup (pwdered soup) in a flask with some curry powder for an extra kick.

And of course a nice bottle of red for the end of the day ;-)

The best river snack is chocolate chip cliff bars. They have a lot of calories in them so when your on the river and you need a lot of energy or just don't want to wast valuable river time you can eat one quick and get back on the river. Plus they don't taste horrible like other energy bars.

Niiiice, biltong is my fav :roflol: and dried wors of course. Not cheap in the UK though Do you buy British beef or do you buy the imported stuff from South Africa?

Peanuts and raisins are also very cool, although a half kilo packet is not exactly light weight :|

Imported of course :D tastes sooo much better, there is a great shop near me that get it direct in and not pre cut so you get to choose your bit, the price aint that bad considering but it gives you so much protien that it is worth every penny. The dried wors is not too good here still love the kudo aswell.

Lekka, send me some ;-)

I agree with neil, I love snickers cause it has sugars in it and you can get them everywhere! Actually I was told told once that snickers is just about as good on sugars and goodies as one of those 3-dollar \"super sporty\" muesli bars :p
I usually take a snickers and a liter of water, and for a whole day ofcourse some bread and fruit.

Can't do the meat, but HARIBO GUMMI BEARS, or GUMMY BERRIES as available here (made with real fruit juice!) make a great snack, long lasting flavour, easy to SHARE!

Snickers are good, but the best are the \"Hot Nuts\" that seem to be avaible everywhere in Mexico but not at all in the states, those things rock!

I'm a C1er so i pack a big bag of pepperoni cheese rolls in my saddle and some gatorade. Water in a neoprene bottle if i'm thirsty while I run stuff, but gatorade with the snack. And GORP (my boyscout troops special canoe trip trail mix recipe.) about a 1 gallon baggy full. I get plenty of quick energy, protein, and carbs.
