pyranha footrest defect 19 years 8 months ago #1057

:bitching: HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM! i kayak a pyranha s6x 205 with the plastic footrest at the bottom. last week as i was setting up for front loop, as i went vertical my left foot went through the footrest putting 3 deep (but not life threatening!) slices in my foot. on further inspection of the footrest it seems i was quite lucky as it was as sharp as a razor blade that it did'nt cut deeper. Pyrahna not interested in what happened and have made all sorts of excuses up. they also say that the footrest should have foam behind it (make sure you check your footrest if u have one) but i bought mine from pyranha hq in runcorn and mine did not have any foam behind it and they say it is my fault for not checking (my clairvoyant skills are not very good apparently!). if anyone else has had this problem or have been supplied a footrest without foam please contact me as this needs to be addressed by pyranha before some gets reallyhurt! don't get me wrong i am not saying pyranha kayaks aren't good as i have only ever paddled pyranha and i love my s6x but due to the way they have handled it i need a new kayak manufacturer as i am looking for a new boat. any ideas?

You really should of had some foam stuck to the plastic bit. The plastic is designed to break on heavy impact to asorb energy and to save your ankles or knees! if you had the foam shims stuck to it your feet would of been fine but it seems you have learnt the hard way why you should paddle with a spongy footrest not just plastic! boat wise look at the new pyranha one im addlin the 7o and its been great sofar or try the Liquid Logic or Draggo Rossi boats
