Hi Headsup,

Thanks for feeling sorry (although you don't have to be, I happen to live near the coast so I can get out for those waves, it's just that we don't have any river playspots around here) and the idea for a powerful pump.

As it is, I do have a car but a small one (Fiat Panda, but it's big enough to transport me and my boat both inside the car ;) ) .

I am not that much of a mechanic so I am wondering how you connect the car to the frontwheel driveaxle parts to the car? And what parts do you mean exactly?

Because it sounds like a simple, cheap solution to getting a big engine.

*grin* I really do have to pay more attention to the various programs on Discovery Channel about cars and motorbikes ;)

Cheers,

Michiel

hi michiel!
probably my description suffers from \"restricted code\" of those who have repaired their cars a lot. i´ll try better: the frontwheeldrive i talk of is the part your wheel is mounted on. it is connected with a steelcolumn(reaching upwards)
by usually 2 screws. also the steering mechanics are attached on a small hook. in the \"toothed hole\" i´ve been talking about, the axledrive is set in (it has an also toothed end). while the toothed parts rotate, the axlebearing and its korpus(which are attached with the 2 srcews to the steelcolumn reaching upwards) stand still. if you mount these still parts with 2 screws on a steelpost fastened in cement on either side of your waterchannel, you can fix your rotating mississippiwheel by inserting each end into the toothed holes. it woul be best to construct the mississippiwheel with a central steelpipe with the right insidediameter to insert and weld fast (very straight!) the \"toothed ends\" of the axledrives, which you saw off from the rest (if all the parts you need are too worn down for the car drive, they are usualy still fine for this project if you can move them without much resistance
and they will cost about nothing).
now the rest of the stand: next to the posts in the cement you need another pair of posts with the same setup but without the mississippiwheel. the tires of your car will rest in the ditch between the pairs of tireless wheels you have mounted on the posts (similar to a breaktestmachine). the rims of the tireless wheels keep your tires from running to the side. only you have to block your rear wheels thoroughly so your car doesn´t escape forward or backwards. the water channel (with a bridge over it like a big board just to drive onto the stand(repairramps)) comes from the side and goes out to the pool in front of your car. if you drive forward while on top of the construction, the water is worked into the pool and flows back to the m.wheel through the channel because of the different waterlevels before and behind the m.wheel. you will have to start this slowly to get the water in flow by and by.
if you come across more questions please let me know, becourse eventhough i have built a lot of machines yet and have the feeling this one will work perfectly fine i´m curious as hell how it turns out to be in real live

so long---headsup!
