Fluid kayaks 18 years 2 months ago #13457

What do people think about Fluid kayaks. I haven't seen to many but they look nice. Their new outfitting looks very plush. Has anyone had any experience with them?
Also, what is the latest with the new playboat, the Nemesis? When will they be hitting stores?
And finally, sorry for so many questions, where can you demo Fluids around the Asheville area?

I can only speak to one of the questions. I have a large flrt and love it. For a start it is the only playboat that I can fit in comfortably (6'6\") and have had no troubles paddling it on class III rivers and it's been great fun. It seems fast and stable and now I have the technique right I'm getting the bow down regularly too. It is very hard to roll but at least it means I can one hand hand roll other boats since I learned to roll the flirt.

Overall I've been very impressed but I'm by no means an expert paddler so I cannot speak to it's suitability for advanced paddlers.

Hope it helps.

Being a considerably new company, they have grown, from nothing, fairly fast over the past years. Loads of changes already and more to come. I assume you saw the pictures I posted here:

The Nemesis is still in prototype phase. More tweaks to the design of the boat are still happening. The Nemesis is a full on playboat. Not near the river running characteristics of the Flirt. A lot shorter and very edgy. That said, it will be an awesome playboat. I have seen a few proto's but not the latest with modifications to the rear of the hull and have not paddled one.

Ask Scott as he has paddled them. Running rivers and playing.

I believe a small Spice is coming out and a medium Solo. I have no idea when. Their boats are getting lighter too which is something most people are not aware of.

I've paddled all three sizes in the Flirt range and thought them to be pretty good. Some people say they are not full on playboats but I think for the average person out there, like you and me, they are still damn good fun.

I tried the Spice in both current sizes but didn't enjoy it. I think I was way too loose in the boat anyway.

Try one of the Fluids, you might like it. As it always said, demo, demo, demo :blah:

Hi ya, I can answer some of your queries. firstly, the Nemesis is set to hit the American stores by the end of April. Its been a long time coming but i've used the protos in all sorts of water and features and i can tell you this boat is sweet, everything from waves to holes to Freewheels.
I'm not sure where you can demo the boats around your area but get in contact with the guys at www.justfluid.com they are the current US distributers.

Hope this helps...
