check out www.kayakwest.com. Also \"Canadian Rockies Whitewater\" it's the guidebook for the area. Thers a southern and central rockies addition for the books you'll want the central one. I've also paddle it a couple of times so I can give you a bit more info if needed.

Although it does not have the Fraser on it www.paddleguides.com does have many of the rivers of BC. Some even have video footage of the hard drops. Remember all guides book are before the flood we had in November so there may be changes in the river. I know that the hardest drops on the Chilliwack are a bit different. There is also supposed to be a new guide book coming out this year, from one of the Vancouver Kayak Club executives. If you emailed the VKC members.axion.net/~vkc/vkc/ That is the old website. The new one was offline when I just checked it because of hackers. The new website is at www.vancouverkayakclub.com when it comes back up.

Can anyone tell me about the river for Hope to Downtown Vancouver,As I was also thinking of some flat water paddling,Maybe from Hope to downtown,What kind of distance is that and where would be a good place to rent a gear,Or if anyone can recommend a good flat water trip around the area something that would take around 7 to 10 days,As i Am in the middle of planning an around the world trip so I will be asking alot more questions

Paddling the lower Fraser (hope to town) would be a long stretch of flat, but active water... maybe 35km?
Most folks would do that stretch in a canoe or sea kayak, just for the speed.
Biggest hazard will probably be traffic.
Gear can be rented at Western Canoe and Kayak, MEC, or Sea to Sky kayak, or a few other places. Western is halfway to hope, so might be a good location for you to pickup gear...

Yea was thinking of doing it in a sea kayak. Is there very heavy traffic?.Or would i be better doing a different trip.Sorry for all the question,i dont know the area at all,i am going to be spending around 1 month in BC travel around before going to Hawaii and New Zealand and Many other countrys,so would like to do a long trip somewhere maybe the inside coast of Van Island or something like that.Any info would very helpfully,Especially for the cheapest place to rent as i will be on a shoe-string backpacking.

Hi Again,
My suggestion would be either the gulf islands or OUTSIDE of Vancouver Island... head to Tofino/Ucluelet, either paddle north to hotsprings cove, or out to the Broken Group. I've done both and that would be a great way to see BC by Kayak. Inside coast can be good too, like I said, gulf Islands or Johnson Straight (see the highest concentration of killer whales in the world there!).

Best of Luck!

Chris71 is right on the money, much better sea kayaking around the coast or on the Island. The stretch of River from hope to Vancouver if that is what you were talking about is quite a ways, I do know a few people that have done it in sea kayaks but its not nearly as nice a paddle as the Islands. The guide book everyone was talking about is available now. I work at Western Canoeing Kayaking in Abbotsford feel free to drop me a line if you have any more questions.
