Wavesport EZG 50 or Dagger RX 6.7 18 years 2 months ago #14471

I'm looking for a good river runner/playboat cross, and I've narrowed myself down to the EZG 50 and RX 6.7 which are supposed to be pretty similar. Does anybody know what the differences in these boats are? Has anybody tried these boats?

Well, seeing as though you seem to be new you may/may not have seen Playak's boat database. Check this out:

playak.com/kayaks.php?id2=356&id=279

They are pretty similar in design and size. (they're made in the same factory anyway) The dagger has an extra 2 gallons in volume. Would be tough choosing between the two. Only real way to know is to try them. Demo, demo, demo.

I've got the big EZG, the 60. I really love it. Very good boat although I have my doubts regarding the plastic quality. Check out my review. (you can get there via my profile) Good luck and have fun on the river  ;-)

the boats are sooooo similar in handling characteristics that you should see which one you can find cheaper, and sit in them both and feel which one has the outfitting that you need to modify the least.

(I spent plenty of time in both of these boats when i was running demos)

I have paddled both of them lots. I have switched boats on a river run many times. There is a difference in feel but it is very slight. The biggest difference I notice is the outfitting. They feel different to sit in but almost the same on the water. One note is that the 6.7 has 52 gallons while the EZG has 50. If you are 180 pounds, as I am, the extra 2 gallons seems to make some difference in squirrley water. That said I own an EZG. Out of all my paddling buddies we are about split down the middle. Try out both boats and decide for yourself which one you prefer. It really is a personal preference between these two.
