Fluid Kayaks: Medium Nemesis in production 17 years 11 months ago #15098

Playak News Watch: Fluid Kayaks: Medium Nemesis in production <br>

The Medium Nemesis is in production at last! It's been a long time coming, but here it is, and it's looking awesome. Below are some pics of the M Nemesis from different angles. Two of our team paddlers - Adrian Kiernan from Australia and Seth Chapelle from the USA - were on hand to take the first two boats that came out of the mould.

So Fluid kayaks are being manufactured in South Africa AND Canada now. I'm just curious, what do people think of this? Threat to the other manufacturers? For sure... I think it's great. ;-)

Fluid has been a bit of an underdog here in Europe aswell, but hopefully they can gain their share of the market. Fluid seems like a small, paddler-driven company with good designs and manufacturing quality.

Well, for one thing I think it is the way to go. I mean, over half of the world actually buy a boat that is made halfway across the planet. Think of all the fuels and other resources that are wasted compared to producing boats more locally. Granted, you have to move the boats but there's a big difference between building a boat in SA or NZ and sell it in the USA or Europe or simply build it in the USA or Europe. Or, for that matter, build a boat in the USA and sell it in NZ/SA/Europe etc.

That would probably cut down on transportation costs and I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people around here that would like to work in a kayak factory ;)

Now let's see if I can bug Outdoor Valley (local kayakshop and Fluid importer for Benelux) to get their paws on a medium Nemesis asap. :bounce:

Be warned, the small is really small. I paddled the small flirt and now i own a medium Nemesis (makes for bigger tricks). God, knows how Adrian managed to fit into the small at his size ;)

Hehehehe, I am a tricky beast when it comes to fitting into kayaks.. ;-). What amazes me is how Neil O'Leary fitted into a small at 6 foot 3 or 4!!! I'm about 6 foot and now close on 87kg (been training more  - paddling)

For those that missed it. Here's the small and large in action.

Think I'll be ordering the medium very soon :roflol:
