On second reading, the subject line is actually quite funny :)

The subject isn't though: I've got a 4-20 here with syncro (3 i think) outfitting and i like the boat and would like to paddle it a bit more, but whenever i lean back, my butt gets pinched heavily between the seat and the backband. Very uncomfortable...

Does anybody know an easy trick to cure that, like without changing the whole outfitting?

Please don't propose a solution that involves getting a leaner butt, as i really don't think that's the problem, plus it would not be an 'easy' trick :D

Thanks,
Jeroen

Wait, I've got an excellent. Don't lean back... hehehe ;-)

Is that a good suggestion or what?

Maybe, depending how the seat looks/works, you can glue some foam on the back of it, behind your backside. This will maybe (depending how you do it) close the gap between the seat and the backband and stop the pinching effect. Or not. :roflol: Or try somehow putting some support from the top of the back band to the top rear rim of the cockpit. You might even drill some holes in a clever position for the support strings/straps.. This should help secure it more. I've got the same backband in my old Necky Blunt. It also used to pinch me until I built up the seat a little behind my ass.:2cents:

Good luck either way. I'm sure someone else will put a more constructive idea forward. :)

i had obviously thought of that one :) but then again, if you're in the middle of throwing your boat around, your body sometimes just moves that way - well mine does anyway :(

Yeas i get this problem too in my pyranha! At the moment i either ratchet it up as tight as humanly possible and that seems to keep it there, or i push it down, so it can't nip, but that does mean it isnt in the ideal position.
Hope that helps a bit!

Re:Pyranha biting my behind 17 years 10 months ago #15923

my experience using pyranha outfitting was that the strap that is supposed to hold up the backband is a POS little elastic band. I found it helped when I replaced this with something sturdier, but then whenever I went for a backdeck the top of the backband dug into my back, but that might have just been me.:|
hope this helps.

dont take my word for this because ive never tried this but apparentally turning the backband upside down seems to stop this \"biting\" effect and the pain sometime associated during a back deck roll

J,

I've heard of people turning Pyranha backbands upside-down to make them more comfortable. I've no personal experience of it, but I've heard it works and it may be worth a try…

Cheers,
Ross

You all beat me to it, If your back rest has the point at the top black or with a fish logo it will be syncro 4, 5 or 6. with adjustments of the straps it should not slide and bite your bum unless of course the fish is hungry but hey its not its fault you bought a carnivirous fish!

The newer outfitting Connect 30 has asymmetrical back band so souldnt pinch,

I found my old s6f pinched once or twice and every other boat has been fine as was the 6f once I adjusted the backband (6f, 7O, h3)

Have fun (and hope your pyranha is a vegetarian or you ill have no arse left :) )

I turned it upside down and bent the lower part (ie the ex upper part) a little backwards and that already helps quite a bit.

Thanks for that idea
