All Star vs. Project 52? 17 years 9 months ago #16722

Help guys, I have a great wave boat, my L.L. Vision 56. Now I'm looking for a great hole boat. Used to be able to do various combo moves in my Transformer but it's very difficult to do these moves in a hole in the V56.

Anyhow... I'm 5 foot 10 inches tall and I weigh 180 pounds. I'm having trouble bewteen the Jackson All-Star and Project 52.

Pros & Cons anyone?

I'm opent suggestions but I'm realy looking to learn about the All-Star and Project 52.

Peace,
Boe (Whitewaterules)

Hi
I'm 6ft1 & 180lbs & have had an Allstar for 2 weeks now.
Being 180 puts us on the top end of the weight range which makes throwing the boat around easy but for retentiveness it could idealy be a little bigger, also for river running you must maintain good posture & attack holes otherwise the stern is rather small.
The stern is super easy to throw down more so than the front (though thats not hard either) could be something to do with my long legs. I think this boat is as comfortable as is possible for a boat this small & high performance, the foot & knee placement is great.
On a wave its great & responds well to small body movements, it doesnt look like it has tons of rocker but is actually forgiving & yet highly responsive.
Unfortunatly havent yet had the opportunity to really test it in a good hole but expect it will be good with the stern comming around super easy.
Overall this boat feels like a great little toy to throw around.

i have had both in a good hole and would say hands down that the all star is better for holes.

Thank's Rob, thank's everyone,
After reading your advice and checking out some more reviews online, I decided on a Red 2007 Jackson All-Star. It will be on my doorstep on Friday July 27th!

Thank's,

Hey there Whitewaterules,

Do you ever drive up a bit further north?

Would love to have some company to run the Jacques Cartier (Tewkesburry section).
Would also like to go run the Kenebec some time (Northern Maine).

Let me know and maybe we can get'r done!

I have a friend going up to J.C. this weekend. Nice... yeah I'll go if you've gone before or if you wanna take the time to scout it out and meet some other boaters who've done it before... Let's do it!

Let's figure it out. Come on down to the Kennebec anytime. It's good time big water.

Peace,
Boe
