I live outside of Cornwall, Ontario. This is not a reall hub for kayaking since there is no whitewater.
That having been said. There is an old section of thecanal that has enough drop in elevation and enough water behind the now sealed lock door to build a small white water course. Long enough for a slalom competition and good potential for a play spot.
Therre are lots of paddlers in easter ontario. It would draw a crowd.
Anyone have suggestions on how to start a project of this size and who to contact to start the ball (or in theis case the wave)rolling.
All suggestions welcome.

Presenting a plan to city council.

We will be meeting with the city council to discuss the whitewater park for our area.
I have posted this question on boatwerks.net as well. You see, what I need now is a show of hands from paddlers.
I believe that the area is well situated (between Montreal, Ottawa and Kingston and let's face it there is no shortage of paddlers in those area).
What I need to know is: If f I build it will they come?
If this goes through it will be a series of play waves and would be good for play, learning and competition.
If I cant build it to stand as a excellent place to come a play I wont build it.

So Again I ask: "If I build it will they come"?

I am looking for all responses and welcome any feedback.
The more answers that come back to me the more amunition I will have when I stand before the city council.
