What boat? Jackson Fun or similar... 17 years 8 months ago #17359

I'm 5ft9, 12 stone/79kg, paddle grade 3 and the odd bit of 4, and am keen to progress in both river running and playboating.

I think its this range of boats that I need to go for:

www.desperate-measures.co.uk/products.as...2id=32&cat3id=12

but I'm keen to buy second hand.:D

Hi, I'M totally new to this sport and I, like you, want to progress in playboating & river running.

I too, found the JACKSON Fun line of boats pretty appealing.

The sad thing is, after researching, I learned that this is a brand new company that established itself in 2004 so, they are fairly sparse, especially the used ones, since they are still fairly new to there owners...

I'm 5'8\" & 82Kg I padle a 4Fun on hi volume class 3-4 water and it works verey well. It's a good boat if you want to run rivers and play when you find a cool spot to throw some moves.

That is quite a list, but whiie you looking, you should take a look at the Bliss_Stick RAD series. Starting at the RAD 180 You will be pleasantly surprised with the boat. It is a great blend of playing and river running.

Howdy from EJ.

A couple of corrections and helpful hints:
Jackson Kayak was formed in 2004 in Rock Island, Tennessee (my home) and we are generally easy to find if you go to our website and look at the dealer list. In Quebec, try Camp de Base, or several dealers in Ontario, New Brunswick, etc.

I hope this helps!

Hun, that's weird I'm pretty sure I had just read that info right before I posted this, I'll try to find this back.

It can't be my mind that played that big of a trick on me...

Not trying to be a prick but i dont think there is such thing as a Fun 3

Smallest to largest Fun1, Fun1.5, 2Fun, Fun, 4Fun, SuperFun.

EJ: Ive been waiting for the 2007 fun's to reach here, will still be another couple of months before i can sit in one. I fit in the 06 4fun, but im only 70kg (155lbs) so would really like to get myself into the plain fun, problem is im 6'3\" - 6'4\" (right on the 36\" max inseam) size 11 feet, fit into a zg-54 and currently paddle an Big EZ.

Do you think ill fit in a Fun?

I suspect I'm going to be very close and will not no for sure 'til i sit in one.

I paddle a Mega Rocker typically, but I recently had the pleasure of paddling a 2007 Super Fun on flatwater/ Class 1 boogie. It is a wonderful boat, and will be my next purchase without a doubt. It is very comfortable, easy to roll and paddled like a dream. I am hoping to find one at the NOC Guest appreciation Festival in October, but regardless I will be picking one up in the Spring.

Demo Demo Demo!!!

that is key... also talk with people who paddle the boats you are looking at... personally I have not met a Jackson Kayak owner who didnt LOVE their boat! I have decided that as soon as I can afford to I will buy a JK super fun for my river runner (maybe by Gauley Fest)...

Also as a company goes Jackson has amazed me at how willing they were to help out when our local paddling resort was wrecked by a tornado... I have nothing but good things to say about JK. They really care about the paddling community.

EJ if you read this... THANK YOU!!!

anyways

good luck and let us know how you do

Go at the top of the screen, click on \"info.\", then on \"all kayaks\", then on \"Jackson Kayaks\" and check the 6th & 10th listings from the top...

No hard feelings.

I think that is just playaks way of listing the fun's. if you ring up a shop and ask for a 3 fun / fun3 they will have no idea what you are talking about. Check out the jackson kayak site.

Here are their latest boats:

www.jacksonkayak.com/kayaks/product.cfm?product=funseries

and what Playak has:
playak.com/kayaks.php?id2=493&id=181

I wonder if the 2007 range has a 3Fun. :ask: Perhaps EJ can verify this and we can correct our database.

I have just bought a Jackson Fun, and can't wait to try it! Although I shall have to wait until I've returned from a two week climbing trip.
