long legged playboat advice 17 years 8 months ago #17624

HI all, Its another first buy advice im afraid!

but i did try an get what i could from all the others 1st. im looking for my first playboat for general use but mainly surf. i was just looking for opinion on a good allrounder that is still a great wave runner.

what i couldnt find was info on rider height. im 6'2 (long legs) /90kg. which is nothing unusual but i jus couldnt seem to find any similar advice. just wondering if any other kayakers have found playboats where long leg room hasnt been an issue....

thanks for any advice

Well, if you're looking for something for mainly in the surf then try out the Fluid Element. It's so, so good on a wave. Just a thought. The Spice is a lot longer so it's also good on a wave but not as radical or as fast and easier to paddle. The Spice would also serve you well running rivers if you so wish. Of course there is also the Flirt and the Nemesis..

Here's a pic of a friend of mine sitting in an Element prototype. He is 6'6\" and fitted in without moving the seat back - it was in the middle. Hope that eases the mind with fittting in with long legs..

I know it's as old as the hills this one but you just got to sit in as many as you can and then go paddle the ones you like the look of. I'm 6\"2 with long legs but my problem is I'm only 72KG so finding a kayak which is the correct size for me is a nightmare. You being a little heavier should have much less of a problem. Having said all this modern playboat design is much better at fitting in longer leged people although a lot of the moddern playboats are not that great in surf as they are so short. I paddle a Jackson All Star which is great and fits a treat but is not that graet as a ocean surf boat.

Enjoy :D

In case you were wondering on the size of the Element. Here's a pic in comparison to a Wave Sport ZG54. The picture does of course make it appear a lot larger because it's closer to the lens. The rails have changed on production versions.. :D
