I just spent a few days at nile special with a french guy who has a fibreglass boat and was getting some big air. He said something about using more layers at the front and back with less in the middle but with foam injected between the layers.
I think its a great idea good luck.;)

I've seen video footage of the boat you're talking about on the Nile. Marty knows where the video is, not me. It looked awesome.

I like the idea of adding foam in between the layers, as for material though do u think just straight up fiberglass or layers of Kevlar mixed in to id rather just use fiberglass to keep it cheap but i don't want to smash it against a rock and have it break

working on the design on CAD and will hopfully have it up soon

Does anyone know how cswoodard's turned out since he left to go to college i haven't seen him.

Other than it breaking I really dont see a problem with using fiberglass. That is how old boats used to be built. If I build one. (Which I plan to) I will use Fiberglass top and a Carbon Kevlar bottem

I highly suggest getting this book.

www.amazon.com/Boatbuilders-Manual-Charl...191363321&sr=1-2

It shows you the techniques used by the majority of composite boat builders, and is the way that most plastci boat designers make their original plugs (the solid boat models that are the first part of the design process). It will also teach you the strengths and weaknesses of different materials and combinations of materials.

Since you are in teh U.S. you will most likely be getting some materials from Sweet Composites. There is a wealth of knowledge on the website. John Sweet built boats for decades, and now Davey Hearn is running the show. So, lots of boat building experience there.
