Boat Theft from Pyranha 17 years 6 months ago #18492

A higher quality pdf can be downloaded www.pyranha.com/cms/uploads/WANTED-forums.pdf

As ever with any boat purchase please make sure there is a serial number on the boat (normally on the rear deck) virtually no kayaks are sold from any manufacture without a serial number being present. Some of the boats are also in new 2008 colours and so will stand out even more.
If you are suspicious of any new Pyranha boat you have been offered (especially those from the back of a van!) please note the registration No of the vehicle and get as much detail off the seller as possible and contact Pyranha with the information and/or serial No if possible and we will be able to verify that a boat is genuine or otherwise.

That really makes me want to use some non-verbal but very painful communication :cursing:

If this person is really stealing to order he must know a thing or two about boats because with the plastic on it is not very easy to distinguish between different models/sizes etc.

With these amounts of boats it should be really obvious if people are selling these boats.

It is almost as if the boats are collected for an international order to be exported and sold abroad.

I really do hope that you can catch this thief!

Edit: I should have mentioned \"Pyranha\" in this post ;) . Regardless of the smiley, I mean what I wrote above!!

Just wondering: it seems like the thief has ample time to collect the boats. Would it help to connect all boats with steel wire (like they do with bicycles) so they cannot be taken as easily as it seems?

Every modern boat has high quality metal loops/rods mounted on the boat so it should not be a big problem. It will give you some extra work though, especially if you want to lock every boat individually but it might be worth the trouble. Losing 50 boats in a few months is not cheap either..

I'm not a very trusting person so.. maybe it was an inside job?

Our house was broken into twice and we have a strong reason (many valid reasons) to believe it was our maid :|

What a bunch of idiots to steal those boats. If it was actually people who kayak then I really don't know what to say. :bitching: I don't know any kayakers that would steal a kayak, or any gear for that matter. Not from a shop and not from another paddler. :frustrated:

I'd agree, I'd say it's an inside job. Maybe he didn't know what boat it was through the plastic, but he just knew what boat was where from working there.

I hope you catch this person quickly.
