Boat Review: Review by Slunda: Dagger Agent 6.2

I just got mine and I totally agree with you in the fact the plastic is soft and can be scratched with a fingernail. Also, I too had a bolt coming off - It was sooooo hard to put back on!

However, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The seat is incredibly comfortable and the cranks lock me in nice and secure. The shape is sexy and TOTALLY squirtable.

I think these good things far outweigh the bad, and I am looking forward to pushing this boat to its limits!

I tried the Agent 6.2 this weekend for the first time. What a huge disappointment. The plastic is as soft as ever, same the Wave Sport these days. The design seems very sound the boat feels lively but not as loose and fast as my new Nemesis. At 86kg I am at the very top of the weight range. It was pretty cramped.

When I stood on the seat of the Agent it just compressed all the way to the floor. The seat bolt has almost ripped out on the left and my mate has put in a spacer there to stop the bolt from pulling through. I broke two Big EZ's with the seat bolt pulling through. It's such a shame though. Wave Sport and Dagger used to be the top notch boats and they've been around for years and years. :| I've heard so many bad things about the Agent in terms of outfitting and boats leaking. The boat is very light and I think they've gone to the far end of the scale to try and reduce the weight of boat and now the strength of the outfitting has been compromised. The boat is a few weeks old and showing signs of oil canning too.

I hope Dagger reads this. I wonder what is going on there. My one buddy has an old Dagger Vertigo that he paddled for a very long time. The boat has seen a lot of action and yet there is nothing wrong with the hull of the boat, or the outfitting. It would still last many more years. They're not making them like they used to. A real shame.

Any comments on this?

I took out my boats yesterday to practice rolling. It was the first time to try with my new Agent 6.2. I did not miss a single roll. Very easy to ferry, eddyout, roll, carve. The river was pretty high so squirting did not cross my mind though it feels like it can esily be done with this boat.

The outfitting is very well situated and does not seem to lack support, but I am in the middle of the weight range. It reacts better than any other play boat I have ever demo-ed or borrowed. I will recomend it to friends and mention the other points brought out in this form.

are the agents sold in the usa different from the ones sold in britatin...
i demo'd the agent 6.4 and i had no problem...it was a high grade 3 (possibly grade 4) and i threw it around seallaunched hit many rocks and it was fine....you say you can scratch it with your nail....i found the plastic reasonably good...for a demo boat which had been used 10+ times on a grade 3 river it looked in good condition

Adrian. I'm trying out a Agent 6.4, not 6.2. Up north we have icy conditions now, so the pool is the only option.
How do you think it will do for my 83 kgs/186 cm?

I'm hardly the right person to really answer your question, but by looking at the 'figures' I'd say you're ok. Without a doubt, flatwater moves are going to require muscle and/or good technique, for your weight. Of course, a boat should not 'in theory' be chosen because of this but it's the reality for many boaters that lack good whitewater... You will fit in for sure, but hopefully somebody else out there is similar to you and can give some good advice.

A good mate of mine used to paddle the large Fluid Flirt. He's now sold it and was considering the large Nemesis but after paddling my medium Nemesis again and again he's changing his mind. He's about 83kg. He could style that large, even on the flats. Different strokes for different folks. Demo mate.... :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Have a super weekend.

I know I will ;)

Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Oddj,

You will do fine in an agent 64 because of your length. I'm 190 cm and have still a lot of space.
Your weight could be on the minimal level of this boat and will need some musle to get te boat round, as Adrian says. Fore sure you do fine in the 64!
For me with 90 kilo's on board and my length its a great boat and I love it. Its very very comfy and it rocks!
I'm a real dagger-fan, but to be honest, if I fitted in the Project 52 I had chosen that boat, but I didn't fit.

i've a dagger agent, am not too impressed. plastic is crap i put a hole in mine after a typical bang on a river, i basically was able to push the dent out with my hand. the plastic is rubbish IMO.
performance wise i dont think the boat is anywhere near the level of the jacksons or wavesport project.
as for the bolts coming off happened to me too i replaced them with different nuts, outfitting is pretty shoddy.

I got my agent 6.2 at the weekend and am confused about the foam footrests i cant figure out how to put em in can i have some advice please. To me the plastic seems fine not soft at all, and the seat holds out well. the screws do need tightning but nothin too serious. the overthruster seems bent for lack of better words doesnt seem to fit the cockpit at all but we'll see,
can i have advice on the footrests thanks
chris.

Pull the middle foam section out en put the "foam-pyramide" in with some glue. In the 64 it didn't fit nicely, but it stays in for a long time now.
