Well it’s been an incredible response to our competition, “Name the Creeker”. Literally hundreds and hundreds of really good names. This has made our job hard so after plenty of deliberation, and all the boys and girls at the factory have voted we now have it down to ten of the best.

It’s a hard one for us to pick especially as one of the ten left is my one!!!! So with the help of Playak we’re wanting to get you to vote on which one you think we should pick.

The winner (i.e. the inventor of the winning name) receives a free New Creeker delivered right to them. Cool aye!!!

Which is cool as a boat name is well of course...

well heck...one of the 10 finalists is the owner of Bliss Stick.....sounds pretty hokey to me.

Pick the name....but give to boat to the second place person.

Pesonally I like the tribal meanings. However, the names are a bit hard to say. Try it...." My new Bliss Stick Mana is great"...IMHO

Anyhow....look at how "Hukka" is said. We know its "Hooka" as in the falls but a lot of people say it "huka" as "huck the falls"..........same a "puck"..............makes me cringe every time I hear that.

Personally, I don't like any of the new names. Were there any others? Maybe you should put all the responses up there for voting and do a final vote for the ten with the most votes. This is much more democratic.

Who is voting for hard-core? It's possibly the worst name for a creek boat i've ever heard!!!

We have about 1000 names come in so far. The Maori names have come from other countries and we have got a lot which is surprising. This is just a taste and the feedback is great. I think we should throw up a few new ones. My one’s not doing so well. We can’t pick the name until we have finished the boat because the name has to match the final product if you know what I mean. We have named the first plug, the “Monstrosity” and even though it was loved we are now reshaping. We are forever waiting for that name that just has to be the one so keep them coming…….. Mettle is cool. The free DVD's are going out.

That is a pretty lame name. Something that gives it a little NZ style would be super cool.

Stop whining about the past and the owner has names in the competition. I have a name up there. I am also a Bliss-Stick rep. Do you think it is rigged? Do you think you will never get a boat? Oh my gosh!!! Are there weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?
It is all for fun. Be happy for those who have names up there, even if it is the owner.

Well I figure I should give you guys a few clues as to what this boat is going to be like. In short we’re wanting to take creek boat performance to a new level. It’s begging to be done but not so easy to do. This is why we are now well into our second round of prototyping. Will it take more? Lets wait and see how this baby paddles.

The first proto was a fine boat. When we tested it on our local runs it was great and loved. It even won the big Kiwi Wairoa Extreme race. It had a very simple and well shaped displacement style hull. Approximately 2.5 meters long and a standard width but had a lot of volume packed into it which made it a big boat. When we got in down to the wild west coast where the pace really picks up with the difficulty and commitment stakes and the rivers are very pushy, we found the boat didn’t climb up on top of the water like we wanted when you really put the hammer down. In fact it started to get pushed around and we didn’t like that at all. We learnt a lot and if nothing else it certainly confirmed to us all that conventional displacement style hulls are not the way for the future.

So round two, don’t panic, we’re not making a creek boat deck and throwing on a play boat hull. It’s a little more complicated than that. The new hull is shaped and looks awesome. It does have a flat bottom but it’s fairly narrow compared with others. It has rails but nice ones that again are narrow from side to side and have a really well angled bevel to offer really good balance and stability when carving. Where paying a lot of attention to the angle and shaping of the side walls particularly towards the ends so that we achieve a really forgiving flow onto the hull and avoid the rails developing a grabby habit. We want this boat to climb right on top of heavy water and give the boater the control that is nesserccery to inspire confidence in the craft and themselves which we all know makes all the difference when your right on the edge. It’s also going to be effortless to roll which is all good. It’s the same length as the first one but we have reduced the overall volume but still has plenty which we believe will only improve the overall handling of this boat.

It will be a bit over a week before we can paddle out latest work and then can confirm or deny if it is meeting our very high expectations. One thing is for sure, this boat will not hit production until we are getting the results we demand.

Oh, I loked POD, as that's my own personal mantra and would help to remember when on some of the bigger water with the words stareing me in the face Paddle or DiE!!!, I love it!!
