Liquid Logic to a wavesport project 52. can I fit? 17 years 3 days ago #21260

So I am thinking of getting rid of my Vision 56 and getting a WS Project. Here's is my problem. The Vision is 6'3 and range is up to 200 lbs or so. The Project 52 is 6'1 and up to 190 lb paddler. I am a 6'1 180-185. I don't like being on the low end of the weight range so the WS 62 is too large. I also know the the Project has more volume in the bow than the Vision does. So, I guess my question is there anyone around my height/weight that paddles a project 52?
thanks

I am 6'1" and 185 lbs.. I fit in the project 52. With some adjustments from the outfitting package you get with the boat, it'll fit you like a glove. so, I'm the same dimensions as you but I have size 10-10.5 feet and they are a little cramped.. the shape of my feet resemble this ( ).. heels touching and toes curled in. with the booties on it's much more comfortable, and (again) after I outfitted the boat, I was actually able to make my feet more comfortable. There are many different shims that come with the outfitting and I used two of them on the front of my seat under the pad to push my knees up into the knee braces more, once I got that, it relieved the pressure on my feet. I can paddle this thing for 2 hours with no complaints.. I love it and fit better in this boat than I have in any other boat I've tried.:woohoo:

To sum up:
If you have big feet, be ready for some cramping and scrunching. If you don't mind the tight feet and are fine with wearing the thinnest booties available, then go with the boat.

If you want another boat suggestion, go with a JK all-star, they have good foot room. The dagger Agent 6.2 also has those dug out foot pockets in the bow for foot comfort and would both be in your dimension range.

Awesome. I went ahead and bought one yesterday. It does fit me like a glove. I have the same size shoe as you as well. I paddle today and I need to move the seat back about 1/2 inch or so but I think that is all. I did put the pads under the seat as you suggested and it helped tremendously. Thanks so much and I love this boat more than my LL Vision, and I love my vision. Anyway, thanks for the help!

Sweet man I'm happy to hear that!

two other things I did with the pads to make it fit even better (hard to believe huh?):P

1) you know the gigantic ones with the glue on the bottom? I'm assuming you put those under your seat, what you should do if you have two more shims left, the next biggest ones is position them on top of the other pads. but this time position them so that the fat end of the angled shim is in the middle. I glued mine down with rubber cement and put them as far forward on the other pads as I could so you could barely see them from the seat cover. What it did having them like that the shims kind of shoved my knees more horizontal, and up a little more. so I had one set pushing my knees up, and one set pushing my knees out.. suggestion.;)

2)You know the pads in that you can put in the knee braces? well I put all of them in the knee brace pockets. but on the pad that fits closer to the middle of the boat I carved it so that it made a sort of a scoop shaped shim (I used the round corner of a belt sander). With my knees up in the braces the padding now cups my knees and hugs them in.

With this whole set up make sure that your able to sit in the back end of the seat, so that all the shims you placed under the seat pad don't make you higher in the seat, but just lift your legs.
