crossriver or jackson fun? 17 years 1 week ago #21504

Hi - anyone want to give an opinion?

I paddle in the UK and am happy on gd IV to V, can roll and flat spin. Have a Riot Air, but find it very slow in surf, and am at upper limit of weight (85 kg/187lbs, 6'0 tall). I wanted to get something with a little more forward speed that was suitable for running rivers and surfing, and was wondering about the liquid logic crossriver or the jackson fun4 - anyone tried these/got an opinion?

Cheers,

Paul

I never use the LL but I'm have Fun and haven't the problem with surfing at them. I think the both boats is similar. Test drive will help you with choise.

I thought for a long time that the crossriver was going to be the boat I was going to buy. I loved how it performed, but after continuing to demo it several times, I decided not to go with it--my legs always went to sleep. I didn't even have to be in the boat for 5 minutes and BAM--no more feeling from the hips down. As you can imagine, maneuverability goes way down once this occurs. I went with the fun instead and I love it. WAY more modifiable as far as the outfitting is concerned. Performance and feel have been better than the crossriver, too. Go for the Fun--you won't regret it.

Don't know much about the CRs.. but the Fun series is an excellent surfing and downriver playing boat.. Seeing as you're around 187.. I think I would go with the Fun instead of the 4fun. I sold my 4fun but would have easily traded it for a Fun. I'm about 185 lbs and the Fun suited me better as it was easier to play in and throw around. the 4fun can handle up to 220 lbs! so if you want a big river boat go with the 4fun, if you want something that you could play with and run you'd be more suited in the Fun. just my opinion:side:

definetly buy a jackson, they're much more comfortable, and faster. if you are near the osuth-east then check out Whitewater:the canoe centre, they have a lake you can try it on, as well as showing you any other options. their web address is

Definately agree with whats been said about WWTCC. Worth the hours journey time, for me, in my opinion. I'm looking at buying my first boat. The staff there have put up with my novice questions, and let me demo 3 or 4 boats. Unfortunately I'm 6'7 tall, the wrong side of 200lbs and lacking in the experience department to pass to pass comment on any of your choices
