Playak News Watch: Paddling Life: Necky Pulls Plug on Whitewater

Necky Kayaks, once a major player in the whitewater arena, recently announced that it is pulling the plug on the category to better focus on the more profitable rec and touring markets.

What a shame but it was coming for a long time anyway.

R.I.P. the 'Blunt' A legend dies.....

Does not surprise me. I t has been a long time since a new boat.

And there last attempt at a creek boat was not that great.

Thanks for all the entertainment that the Blunt provided!

It's a shame. A loss to paddling, the Blunt was an amazing boat but some of their play boats were under appreciated as well. Guess it just gets harder to compete against the big multinationals. :wavebye:

The Blunt was the first kayak I ever bought...good times. I've still got it and too sentimental to flog it. :wavebye:

According to Necky's website, they still make the crux and mission kayaks. either they have not updated their website, or they are not out of the WW industry yet... www.neckykayaks.com/kayaks/whitewater/

probably they're just selling whatever they have left in stock, which makes sense.

i just talked to the necky people at the Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City, and it's definitely confirmed that Necky is moving out of whitewater...
