Playboat advice please 16 years 9 months ago #22334

Hiya

Im coming out of retirement back into Kayaking. Mainly did rivers before and surf but am interested in getting into freestyle/playboating. Problem is with all the new hi-tec boats I haven't a clue what to get.

I'm about 5'4 and around 60kgs so want something that I can learn in but that will also progress with me. I tried out the Jackson Star and liked it but found it a little slow on the waves.........can anyone recommend anything they think would suit???

Cheers

It sounds kinda generic by now but its all about the demo

I might consider something a little longer too, along the line of the fluid spice/ Bliss Stick RAD. As memory serves (and im too lazy to check the boat database) the star series is longer than some of the other boats out there.

I would look at

Fluid Nemesis or Spice
Bliss stick RAD, Smoothy, Specialist
Wavesport Project
DragoRossi fish (i think thats the model)

check the stats and then demo, if the JK seemed a little sluggish on waves I can tell you from my own personal experience the WS project ROCKS!!! Im biased as I paddle one...

Welcome back from retirement ( I just took up paddling again myself after 8 yrs away)... there have been a lot of changes but it is all good!!!!

I've tried the Project 45, an EZG 42, a star and the dagger agent 6.0. By far my favourite was the dagger agent.

It's probably personal preference though so you'll want to try a few yourself.
