RiverGuide for Kayakers 16 years 8 months ago #22437

Hello,

I am thinking of getting the RiverGuide for Kayakers app for my new iPhone from the iTunes. Does anyone have this yet and can you tell me how many rivers are listed in West Virginia?

If anyone else has an iPhone and is interested you can check out the app here:

Thanks

Hello BRR,

There are about 250 rivers for WV alone...

RiverGuide For Kayakers

I also splurged the whole $1.99 for this app, and really like it.
The interface is easy to use and very readable. It presents and
information in a nice easy to access manner and with two finger taps
I can get gage readings form all over the country.

I wanted to know what rivers were covered in my area so I sent the
developers an email. Within 3 hours I had a list of all the rivers
covered in my state. Since then for those interested I have counted
and there are over 700 rivers in our area alone (WV, VA, NC, SC, GA)
and it looks like most of the rivers you'd want to run anyway. The
developers also told me that they are working on a favorites list, a
release calendar and a GPS feature to find rivers that are close to
where your standing.

I like the wavy icons they are yellow, green and red, I think to mean
the river is low, med, or high level based on historical data. There
is also a grey indicator which I think means there is not enough
historical data to determine the relative level.

I find using the RiverGuide app much easier than using a browser on a
small screen to get the river flow information. I don't have to deal
with website advertisments, resizing the screen, and no zooming or
panning are needed to see the river data I'm interested in.

Considering I spent $300.00 on my phone, $129.00 on an unlimited
calling plan....I consider this the best $1.99 I've ever spent...
