so... I've been saving money to buy myself a good pfd, or waiting until my debt isn't as substantial (haha) and I've had my eyes on the all black Astral Newton.. and now they've stopped making them!?!?!?

I'm looking for a PFD that I can wear playboating that makes me feel like I'm wearing nothing at all, like the astral newton. I was looking for the $150 tops range. and preferably something in black (i know colors are good to wear but i like black).

I was looking at the stohlquist brick. any thoughts or suggestions on something else?

I also checked out the Astral green jacket but I can't bare to part with that much mullah right now..

Check out the Palm Fusion. I have one and it's really nice. (plus it looks cool B) )

Palm fusions are really good, bouyant but minimalistic, and very ttough if you break things like me

I've seen people on Boatertalk discuss Palm equipment before. Like their drysuits. So I guess there are some American kayak dealers who also carry Palm stuff.

Looked on that website, but they only seem to sell 2 PFD's. No fusion though.
But maybe you can ask a dealer that is posted on that site if they can get it.

I've got the older version of the Aquavest 300. Awesome vest. Zero complaints.

When I buy a new vest, I'll probably get one of these.

But I saw in Billy Harris' book that he was wearing a Salus vest.

I would look at something like this: www.astralbuoyancy.com/products/men/tempo200/index.html . Personally, I don't playboat, but I have a Stohlquist flowter that is great, and inexpensive.
