Hi, how about using seat belts (with safe buckle) in a freestyle boat. Other way it is possible sometimes to jump out of the boat. What is your experience, suggestions, etc.?

I would have thought that to be dangerous if you capzise?
Being new to frestyling though im probably wrong i tend to lose my head whe i capsize, mess up my roll and then fail to get my spraydeck off.....
Just lucky my instructors great at rescue!

they are called suiside straps! i dont know anyone who wears them. if you were serious about freestyle eg comps etc then i would consider them but they must be quick release but personaly i would never use them.

Well, I saw in a video that some guys use it in wave surfing kayaks or C1.
I think about it because some times if you try to do for example loop and feature is not strong enough,
you have to make great spin momentum and it is possible that you jump (or partially) out of kayak or drop spraydeck off. So I wonder if seat belts are used in freestyle boats also. Cupsizing is not so bad if you are in normal position
in the kayak, but if you are out of seat or one leg is out of thigh brace, or spraydeck is off than you are in much worse situation. Of course buckle must have be safe (quick release like for diving weight belt or similar).
And of course you have to have bombproof roll.

I know that some people use seatbelts in their play boats whenever they park and play.

Most on the ones I've heard of used the quick release buckles found on airplanes, because they are aluminum and have minimal moving parts to mess up in the event of a swim.

It goes without saying that you should never use a seat belt in a situation where you aren't 100% sure you won't be swimming (or flushing into a big rapid if you miss your eddy).
