Playspot overview for the US 16 years 2 months ago #24720

Hi
I'm will prety soon (March) come to the US to make a road trip (from northest to northwest) whis a lot of paddling and climbing and I got the problem that I don't know were all those playspots are.
I found a few on this side but it cand be all. Do anybody know if there are a kind of book with all of them (including a mape e.g. ) or a .pdf file to print which are easy to handle if you are on the road?
Thanks in advance and I hope to see you on the river.

Try to find a few outfitters, and many of them should have guide books for their area. The first outfitter that I can think of is Zoar Outdoor, but there are many others. I am in the southeast, so I might not be of too much help since I am pretty far away from where you will be going. Also, why did you choose northeast to northwest? The southeast has some of the best rivers, like the Gauley for big water, Green Narrows for creeking, and Nantahala for river running as just a few rivers.

Hi
If you mean the Gauley close to Fayettville than we will pas it.
We choose our rout acourding to the Climbing (New River Gorge, Red River Gorge) areas.
Probably I've just described it wrong. exacly it is the midl of the US (aprox. the line between Philadelphia and San Francisco)
Back to the outfitters eg Kentucky east and West Virginia is ther an online overview available.
At first only playspot are interesting for me because I travel with my girlfriend and she doesn't paddle and I don't know how easy it is to meet people under the week for kayaking or if ther ar any reginal forums to ask when I'm in that area.

Check out American Whitewater's site. It tells what rivers are flowing, what levels they are, class, etc. Just choose the region and look around.
