Hey guys and girls!
Im looking at buying a Bliss-Stick Flip-Stick.
Its second hand, and comes with a sprayskirt that fits the boat.

Specs:
Length 200cm
Width 66cm
Height 33cm
Volume 190L
Weight 14kg

Im about 5'8"
Was wondering what you guys have to say about it. Ive read a few reviews and from what ive seen its not bad for a playboat, but due to the amount of time since it came out its more like a new river-runner/playboat cross than an actual playboat.
Being a complete beginner im still looking for my first boat. I can solidly roll on bot sides, and am currently only paddling grade 2 rivers, but doing quite a bit of surfing (the rivers are starting to get too low here in NZ for any decent grade 2 paddling :( )

Anything you guys think i shold look out for?

Cheers,
Matt

Hey Matt, the Flippy is a really fun riverrunner. Have some friends that just love them. Myself? It's a foot killer! Being in NZ you should be able to find a used one to try. Would contact the Bliss-Stick factory on the North Island and see if they can turn you on to any leeds.

We just sold the last 2 "new" one here in the states.

Good luck in the hunt!

Cool thanks. Will get in contact with Bliss-Stick and see what they can tell me :)
Im also looking at two other boats:
Bliss-Stick Freestyler
Perception Method Air

The freestyler looks a little old (but that may just be the way the phot was taken).
The Method Air looks prety cool, and from what ive read isnt bad on the river either.
Thoughts?

Both are old school. Perception hasn't made a whitewater boat in years. Living in NZ there should be lots of used RAD's for sale. That would really be your best choice.

Go with the flipstick being a beginer. Freestylers are very old and can be quite difficult for beginers. I wouldnt recomend getting a RAD as your first boat as it is not at all a riverrunner and would most possibly not treat you very nice at all. Flipsticks are great river runners and you can still play around in them alot.

I have to totally!! disagree with the statement that the RAD is not a river runner. The RAD is one of the best riverrunner/playboats on the market. Compaired to a Flippy It Has more volume for resurfacing, it's platform is more stable and has less slicey ends to catch you. It floate higher in the water and it's higher peak gets you up and over the waves. The more rounded front bow sheds water and rocks better and the thing boof like a dream. The RAD is more comfortable, more adjustable and way easier to roll. RAD's also carries much more speed and is less affected by big eddylines.

My friends and I own both boats and the RAD's have seen everything from the big water Loscha to the class V setion of the Northfork of the Payette.

The RAD does it all.

I paddled the Flip Stick once on the Kalixälven in Sweden, ( adrian.playak.com/index.php?option=com_c...=view&id=38&Itemid=6 ) which is some pretty big volume paddling, and a few times on the play run of the Sjoa in Norway. I was pretty impressed with the boat and found it very easy to paddle. At 6' I found the feet a little uncomfortable as well as the thigh braces. But then again, the persons whose boat it was didn't outfit it at all. On a wave it felt pretty good, although I'm by no means a good playboater. Easy to cartwheel, I'm about 185 lbs with no gear etc. Hope that helped... Try it out, you'll probably like it. :) Decent boats!
