I know its not the kayak you are talking about but if they are in your area have a look at the Fluid Spice Large if you were going for the gt max.
The Spice is a good river runner (my boat of choice for river running and creeking up to gr4+) it handles well, rolls easy, boofs easy (even when paddled with hand paddles) and because of the hull and ends you can have s much fun on the way down as you want. There is also enough space for gear (rescue/overnight).
One of the best all round kayaks I have ever paddled.

Try loads of types out before you commit, you might find you prefer a plaining hull or a semi displacement. Getting the wrong one could turn out a bit gris.

Nothing wrong with the gt max or any other yak, you can run pretty much any river in pretty much anything a mate paddles a playboat on everything but wont do any drops, mainly not interested but will happily play down a grd 5 in a 420.

In my books depends on where you want to be and when if grade 3/4/5 is on the card maybe think about goig for a more river runner / little bit of creek, jeffe, big dog force, dagger mamba, the list is endless just try a load out, see the boys at AS Watersports get some advice and try plenty.

Just get a budget set before hand ;-)

Get a boat with a bit of volume in the stern, its hard enough to concentrate on not going over sideways, never mind having to worry about backwards as well.
I think i tried a GTX once, I am not sure how different they are from the Gt max, but that was a great boat. I got out at the end saying that would prefer it to my nomad, which i swear by. It has great rails and secondary stability. The bad thing about it was that it had been cracked and re-welded at some point, which may something about the longevity of the plastic.

If you are buying new I would probably go with one of the boats suggested above though.
