Heya people,
I've been thinking about having a go at creekboating and getting some proper clinics/coaching/courses for that.
I do have quite a bit of kayaking experience, but more playboating and next to no creeking.
:(
Also, I have some vacation time comming in September... So:
Is there anything around Europe that will be running and can onyone suggest a kayaking outfit that will offer a suitable course?
Thanx in advance?

If you are willing to come to Russia, you could get a lot from paddling with kayakUSSR.com guys. Most definitely you ll get a level up.

Hi,
When I said vacation time, I meant 10-12 days, not couple months - unfortunately. ;-)
Russia takes time... Not to talk about getting there, getting anywhere once you are there is a matter of a number of days.
I would deffinetly like to get back there someday for some good paddling, the place is not short of good rivers - for sure! :-)
For now, I am still looking for something in Europe.
BTW, how are you feet doing?
Cheers ;-)

It's not working out this year...
Not enough time (work, work, work)
Not traveling light this time (girlfriend)
Trying to get something different in this time - a bit of creeking
;-)
So, i am working on some kind of plan that will combine that all - Europe, creeking or river-running clinic or coaching, road trip and quality time. :-)
But seriously, Ads - don't miss out on the Nile. It's a must!
Anyway, any advise? Anyone?

Did you guys hear that the Nile festival is back on. November.

But hey, I was just in Tocino Switz and the guys were saying that portugal is the spot in Europe for that time of year.(Autumn) There's a good guide book apparently.

As for the coaching. here's a good start for some creeking skills that you can start practicing in easy white water. It's the Kayak session destruction articles that I do and all the articles are now up on my website.

How'z it Steve?
Thanx for the link. I've read most of it before, bit it's useful to have all the articles on the same page. Nice site. Shame the video section is not up yet.
Any way, good news on the Special Fest. Too bad, this year I definitely can't make it. Have fun!
I am now all set to go to Slovenia and north Italy in September. See how this works out ;)
Cheers,
Dima

Howzit Dima.

Glad you mentioned the video skills section. I'm filming today to finish up the first six video tutorials (at last) they'll just be freestyle but at least there'll be something in that section. Maybe some river running later, along the lines of the stuff in the written articles.
Good one.
Go hard

Howzit,

Where in Europe and when?

People offering this kinda stuff are everywhere but check out the following people.

Dennis Newton www.sweetwatercoaching.co.uk possibly more scotland but contact Den, he's a great guy, great coach.

Simon Westgartth Search Gene17 I think?? or PM him here Great guy long time coaching runs courses all over europe from slovenia to Norway.

Stuart something or other search canoe control mainly france based (I think...) summer months.

Also look out for Deb Pineger not sure if she is working solo or with Stuart??? awesome boater and coach.

Oh and Andy turton www.andyturton.com austria, switserland etc.

Have paddled with all of them with the exception of Deb and Simon but have friends who have had coaching with them, all top rated and will know the best places and local knowledge.

All will do some kind of creeking boofs/ drops / advanced WW courses.

Thanx :)
I will look in to these.
Anyway,
Stuart from CanoeControl does not seem to be responding to any communication (mail, website or phone).
I think that Deb is working with Gene 17 (Simon Westgarth). I might try to catch her in Slovenia, especially after your reference. ;)
Cheers

Re:creeking skills coaching 15 years 8 months ago #27458

 Yes sorry meant Simon not Stuart!

Stuart is probably having a problem with comms not unusual but i am sure he will get back.

Deb would be a good bet or Simon but I am not sure who will be in Europe now, most people will start to head off fairly soon (late august early september) before the big freeze.

Also you could contact SnD Kayak shop in St Clemont (sp??) I am sure wolfgang or natalie would know who is around and where.

Happy hunting.
