Hi all,

I will be in Overberg and CT during June and would be intrested in finding a second hand Fluid Solo preferrably an Expedition but could probably go for a Medium as well (But I am very fond of the hatch) any info would be appreciated.

Would be fantastic to hook up with some locals for some paddling of course... :)

Second hand Solo's are hard to come by... Boats are cheap in SA, about half the price than what you pay in Europe :)

June should have water in Cape Town. What's your experience level like? See you on the water soon! :laugh:

As for experience i have been WW paddling since 2004 have a quite solid roll and runs up to level 3 with resonable comfort.

I am investigating with the airlines as to what cost i can bring "my boat" home, anyone having any first hand experience of this?

Cool stuff.. It's best to start on the Palmiet to warm a bit and see how things go. This river:

It's luck of the draw. Some airlines say no, some say yes without paying a cent, others make you pay anything from R400 to about a R1500 or even way more... It also depends on who you get at the check in counter... It's always a shake of the dice. Just smile, lots. :blush: It will help to print out some info from the airline that says anything about sporting equipment and make sure you call it surfing equipment, never use the word kayak. Otherwise your life will turn to hell. And don't take no for an answer. Some airlines say nothing longer than 2m because it won't fit. That's nonsense, they fly 4 metre boats no problem..

That sounds absolutly terrific,

Can't wait to get down there! :P Considering the prices in SA i will certainly have a look at a new Solo, any specific dealer in CT that you would recommend?

How much are you looking to pay fro a 2nd hand boat? I know of a medium and large that could be up for sale.

R4000 sounds reasonable depending on condition, I might even be intrested in buying 2 Solo's ;) If it is still available in June I am definately interested.

In fact I only remembered now, another friend of mine bought Roaches boat already.

Just buy a new one. Second hand Solo's usually get sold within days in South Africa...

I was wrong. My mate bought someone else's boat... But Roach is definitely in the USA now. But I'm sure someone would have access to it.

I was at the Palmiet yesterday. It was very low, but runnable. I just had a small kayak school there. Check out the local forum to be kept up to speed:
