Playboat for tall/weightless person 14 years 11 months ago #29475

Hi Playak,

I'm a experienced paddler and I want to start playboating. The only problem, I'm 6 feet 2 inches, and my weight is 150 pounds. I tried a lot of playboat, but I clearly want to find the perfect one, Is there someone that can help me out?

thankyou

Honestly, you would probably want to look for a medium sized boat that you can fit in, and has low volume ends (like the Fluid Nemesis/Flirt, or Bliss-Stick Flip-Stick). You may even want to look into older models if you're just starting, like a LL Session or Pyranha Sub-7. Even a river-running playboat like a Wave Sport Fuse 56 would probably work well.

if you really want to get serious into playboating dont get one of those old boats, youd probably regret it soon enough. Find a medium sized boat that you can get yourself into, the volume will be right but it will probably be tight on your feet, I have the same problem.

You might want to look in to getting one of the slightly older models like the Jackson Fun range or the Wave sport EZ 54 or if those are to smaller then you may want to look in to the river runner / playboat kayaks like the EZG.
hope this help and good hunting

Thanks for all your kind tips! I'll tried the smalesst full playboat kayak I can fit. Thought so, it's really annoying to think I don't have the proper volume. I'll let you know witch kayak I choose. ;)

See you on the river!

I finally get my hand on a old playboat: flair 47 (riot) It maybe not the newest kayak, but the volume feel perfectly. Maybe after a year I will get a 2010-2011 playboat. A simple question remain, have you tried the newest projet X 48?

see you this fall on the river.

i've the same problem (6 foot / 135 pounds). bought a new jackson allstar. after a lot of practise - the flatwater cartwheel seems to work (still can't get to the 3rd end). but it pops me completly out of the water when my double pump is to agressiv...

I'm 6ft, and I tried to fit into a mates Bliss Stick RAD 175. I could get one leg to fit in perfect, but due to how he had his outfitting, i couldn't fit my fat arse in the seat. But that's a small kayak that I could fit in. They also have the 180 which is slightly bigger and has a lot of room.

I've sat in the latest all star too, and it's a heap easier to throw around than the 07 all star. So if you can get comfortable in that, it would probably be a good option. I think the new Pyranha Molan M is a similar size but I think slightly more room inside?

Note however that there's a difference between 'fitting' in a boat and being able to fit comfortably. For me, comfort is very important!

i agree but due to lack of weight comfortable and being able to use the boat on the flat still is going to be a problem :/ lol

Agreed kayakwalker. It's a balancing act between squeezing into a boat small enough that you can still do things, and being comfortable enough so that you can still feel your legs after 5minutes. No point squeezing into a super small boat if your legs go numb and so you can't control the boat anyway :(!

Just be short and fat like me then it realy easy to get into playboats. I managed to fit in a dagger G-Force 5.9 an I weight 202pounds then it is realy easy to do tricks. If I were you i would just stick to river running.
