fluid nemesis (small) for beginning playboater? 14 years 7 months ago #30093

I really haven't done much playboating. I'm 5'9" and 120 pounds. The boats that are small enough in volume for me tend to be kids boats, with no room for my legs. My inseam is 31". I found a Nemesis that's only been paddled 4 times for $500, which I'm tempted to get. There are none near me to demo, though, and I'm a little reluctant to pay that for a used boat I've never paddled. Is this boat goint to be too much for me?

The Nemesis S will be perfect for your size and weight. Most Fluid kayakers that can squeeze into the S prefer it to the M. Just check with the seller if the outfitting is the new MOD3 or the old outfitting.

Thanks Jan.

Is the seat stronger on the MOD3 outfitting? The seller told me that it is, in fact, the MOD3 outfitting.

Hi,
at 120pound you have the perfect weight, Iam 140 and 5,8(inseam 32') and Iam a bit to heavy. At 5.9 you can easily fit in the boat, Personally I use a happy feet in the boat. This is a great carving machine. The boat is a bit harder to control than other boats in the a thrashy wave/hole, but you will learn faster than using a allstar/project/molan as these boat are forgiving and doesnt have big edges like the nemesis. But on a big wave, you will love the ability to carve with this boat. Easy to roll, and cartwheeling.

and by the way 500$ with the mod3 outfitting, thats a great price...

Yes, the outfitting is stronger. There were a few issues with the old outfitting the has been eliminated with the MOD3. The outfitting now adjusts must easier and also provides more hull support, and is more comfortable.

Enjoy!
