Hi all, wondering if someone more local to Idaho can advise:
Is the KWP open now?
I heard rumour that it was closing Sept 17th? Any way to confirm?
There is no 'contact' on the KWP webpage. Any suggestions who to contact out there (store??)
The level is 1200 on the gauge... is that just too low for anything? or still decent to practice in?
Appreciate the advice!

Kelly's Whitewater Park, the river, is open. The visitor center did close on Sept. 17, but will be back open in the spring. If you go to the website, www.kwpid.com you can check the flows, see pictures from this season, and view the web cam. The web cam of the river rotates between the different features.
This morning the current flow is 1,050 cfs. I did surf at 1,150 cfs and the top wave was really nice for spinning and blunting. The second feature was still good for hole moves but it is a little shallow so you had a smaller window than before where you can plug and not tag the bottom.

I will be surfing there tomorrow around 2 pm mountain time if you want to check the web cam. I attached a picture from KWP at 5,000 cfs. I am looking forward to high water next year for this feature.

KWP is still good at 1000 cfs. The first feature is great for spinning and front surfing. The second feature iis getting a little shallow but you can still do all the tricks in it. When looping you sometimes hit the bottom. The water is warm.

Thanks for all the feedback. We did hit the park last week. It was closed (the park building, change room, etc. and despite the signage, we had no issues getting on the water. We did see a couple other folks there. The water was warm, and the park is beautiful. A really well done facility. The water was low, but as commented, the first wave was still in, the bottom left one was very stick, but fun to blast, and there was a very little wave for fooling around on near the park building. We'll definitely be back, worth the trip. The entire area is really nice, and there is lots of good paddling (and fishing!) nearby.
