World renowned expedition paddler Hendri Coetzee has died while on a trip to the DRC.
Reports suggest that he was pulled from his kayak by a crocodile.

This truly is a tragedy for the kayaking community. Hendri was at the forefront of African river exploration, being part of the team to complete the first White Nile source-sea expedition, as well as pioneering the Murchison falls section of the Nile, to name but a few of his feats.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this difficult time.

R.I.P Hendri, you will be sorely missed.

A good man, and a true present day adventurer. A massive loss to our small kayaking community. Rest in peace Hendri. You will always be an inspiration to me.

A fantastic tribute to Hendri written by Celliers Kruger. Please give this a read for an idea of just how special this man really was.

Sad new indeed. He lived a more full life than some that live to 80. I respect him a lot for what he accomplished by age 35. Sad loss but lets remember to rejoice as he died doing what he loved most. I just wish It would not have been under those circumstances and so soon.
