blog looks nice, but it doesn't have an RSS feed it seems... would be handy if you want the playak news watch to follow you :)

Hey Seth,

I subscribed to your RSS feed. Seems like a decent quality site, and enjoyed the project x review. However, when I add the RSS feed in Thunderbird there's no title, it just comes up blank. Not sure if you can do anything about that? Thunderbird doesn't let me rename feeds either I don't think.

Another thing is that I'm looking at upgrading from my 07 all star this year, but basically have no chance to demo any boats. The 3 I have my eye on are the molan, project x and super star. I was wondering if you could give more of a head to head of the 3 boats against each other if you've paddled them all? It'd probably be more useful to others if you posted it up on your blog so others can read it too?

Cheers,
Allen.

Hey Allen,

First of all Im not sure what the deal is with the RSS feed, it seems to work well in safari and firefox, and Im not really clever enough to sort out a solution for you im afraid.

Boat wise here I would always say having a go in a boat is absolutely key, and it is difficult for me to sit here on the other side of the world to you and say which will be best for you. Different paddling styles, ability levels, regular playspots etc are all different for different people. all I can really do is give you some of the differences and similarities and tell you what I found having paddled the new allstar, molan M and project X 56.

Allstar- Didn't really suit my paddling style, I only paddled it twice, heres why. knee position felt too high and narrow, stern felt short and came through for cartwheels too quickly for me. big loops. On a wave it seemed to pop up, but because of the position of the rails I often I couldn't keep up with it and it would pop out of the water when i wasnt expecting it too. landing tricks I often found myself tripping on the tail and backlooping off of a wave.

Molan- Paddled it for a fair bit longer, found it to be slightly longer than the allstar, with the rails tucked away further under the boat. this served to make it unbalanced at first, but you quickly get used to that. The slight extra length was great for cartwheels as it was just a little slower and easier for me to keep up with. Similar volume made it great for loops, just like the allstar. equally on a wave i found i sometimes tripped and backlooped on the tail. although i did get used to this eventually.

project x- only paddled it twice, alot can be taken fromt he review on my site, i think, from my two paddles it is an absolute beast on a wave, it certainly takes off. Not so sure it wil be forgiving in a hole due to the aggressive sahpe, although im sure once i get my new one I will be able to give a more accurate description

Hope that helps, if you can just try and bum a quick go off someone at your local playspot, what works for one paddler wont work for another so you have had my subjective views. Hope that helps

The channel element of the RSS feed has an empty title element. Not sure how you made that RSS feed, but it shouldn't be too difficult to fill that title element.

Anyway, it's no problem for the Playak News Watch - I can follow you fine through the current RSS feed :)

Thanks for that batman. That's what I was after, was just the differences between the boats. Pretty sure there are no Molan's in Aus at all. And I don't exactly have a 'local playspot'. I can get a demo of a Superstar, which has been on my list of things to do since last March but it hasn't happened yet :(, and now that the Project X has been released that throws another spanner in the works. I guess if I could actually get a demo in one of the boats and liked it I should just go for it. But I'd really prefer a demo beforehand, as my 07 all star isn't bad, I don't want to fork out for a whole new boat simply based on marketing hype.

As for the RSS, it work's, it just comes up with a blank title so I have a list of names then a blank one that's yours ;)
