Liquid Logic Freeride? 14 years 1 month ago #30818

I saw a couple reviews and a short video about it. just wondering what the deal is. is it a playboat or a river runner? or something in between like the Fuse or Fun? seems long for a playboat ( a little over six and a half feet i think), but i got the impression that Liquid logic is marketing it as a playboat.

You're right, it is long for a playboat. It doesn't really matter what they market it as, sales people put all sorts of spins on all sorts of products.

They may call it a playboat or a river running/playboat combo type of kayak. But you don't have to know too much about whitewater kayaks to know that with its length won't be as playful as the shorter projects/all stars/molans etc. out there.

You guys nailed it. Its a longer playboat. So as you all have said it won't have the short boat corkiness but it will be faster and more stable on end. The length will also lend itself to running the river better because of the added speed but this boat is a playboat. It has a fairly low parting line for initiating moves. The hull is loose and there is a bunch of volume focused in the middle of the boat.

Since it is 6'6" it will be a different kind of playboat compared to the shorter models but I just spent the day out on a big water play section and had a great time. In fact we sessioned a big wave for an hour that I have no doubt I couldn't have even caught or surfed in a short playboat.

If super short is your thing, which will be easier to throw around, then sure it isn't for you but if speed, a loose hull with nice smooth carving edges, longer stable ends for wheels, and still very good pop on a wave and in a hole sound good to you then you should check it out.

Cheers
Shane

hey guys,
there is a little bit longer description by Shane on the Team Liquidlogic Blog . You will find some words on the designing process and the new way of "customer relationship development" for kayaks.
cheers
