I'll be playboating on a short stretch of whitewater on Big Wilson Stream in central Maine in late May, and won't be more than 200 yards away from the warmth of my cabin. I'm trying to figure out what I need for cold water gear. I was thinking a 3mm long john (
www.wetsuitwearhouse.com/page/WW/mens-sp...uit-wetsuits/SX535MF), a Goretex paddling jacket (
www.outdoorplay.com/Kokatat-Gore-Tex-PacLite-Paddle-Jacket) & some neoprene hand, foot and head coverings would be sufficient.
Does anybody know what kind of water temps I should expect in central Maine in late May? Am I daft not to get a full wetsuit? I'm hesitant about loss of mobility, and don't want to spend $1,000 on a dry suit. I could see going with a Goretex jacket, pants and neoprene footies like this:
www.outdoorplay.com/Mens-Deluxe-Outerwear-Package, but that's $400 before I even get into the layering.
Advice, please?
