ok just an idea of mine..

if you took an old boat, like a dancer, put in some foot blocks, sawed off the ends then used a blowtorch to mold it together into a playboat shape, would it work?

it obviously wouldnt have much hull integrety or be very safe, but would be a fun project

let me know if i sound like an idiot :roflol:

i've seen a guy with such a boat participating in the worlds back in 1998 or so. i think Double Dutch also made a playboat that way once.

it's be more playable than the long boat, but the hull form will still be oldschool and the proportions are not very likely to be optimal :)

What if you could heat it up and bend the materials... Customise it slightly if you get what I mean. And obviously itd be unsafe so itd be use for flat water or something...

Nice idea. I want a go.

There was a french guy who did it on the zambezie in the early 80's. Cutted down a perception ( not sure) and surfed like hell. There was a artikel in Kayak Session (not sure too) about him long time ago.

I remember an article about this done to an Inazone. Apparently it worked great, till it started transforming even further, into a sieve :)

it's definitly worth a shot if you have an old boat to mess up. It's fun to build stuff. The worst case scenario is that you will have experimented more with plastic welding and will be better prepared for when you have a crack in your newer boat. Best case would be that you have a fun new toy for super low water.

Try this one. We cut open the bow of my friend's boat and let him sit in it.
Then, we measured about 10cm in front of his toes and cut the bow deck off there.
Bent the hull part up to meet the new deck cutoff and welded it all together..

We just cut the stern off square, the same amount as the bow deck and welded it all together.

It was an ugly, but fun little boat.

A guy i know did it with a session a few years back... choped off the ends and melted it up...

the boat was sweet for 20 min before your legs died... it still going strong he has it over in Uganda...

sure why not?

Oh, the making of the outazone reminds me at Corran Addisson End Game video. What we witness here with the outazone is really professional design process and no messing around !
