Just looking for some advice. At the moment I'm paddling a LL Lil' Joe which I really like. I'm using it mainly for kayak surfing and river running.

I'm thinking of getting into playboating (mostly on the flat for now) and maybe some kayak surfing and have been doing a lot of research into what boat I should buy.
I've pretty much decided on a new LL Vision 56 (Bigfoot now I think) as it seem to be getting good reviews from lots of people. The only thing that worries me is I've seen a few reviews say it is very slow and this would not be good for ocean surfing.

Obviously I'm going to get a Demo before buying but what I'd like is some feed back from you guys :ask:

I'm 5' 6" , 80Kg , 32" inseam and size 9 feet.

All advice appreciated

That is probably too much boat for you. 56 gallons is a lot to throw down, and you dont weigh that much. Im 5'10" 180lb and have a big wheel, but can barely flatwater cartwheel. Demo for sure, but you probably want less boat. Bliss stick rads are awesome and maybe try the wavesport ezg's, Longer slicier boats that are more of a riverrunner and will be faster for on an ocean wave

yeah a fifty six is huge, go for there smaller model, the vidion fourty for, ive heard it was especially fast and the rails are supposed to be sweet.

Nah.. your too big for the vision 44. Plus the vision series are slow and do not carve well. Take a look at the wavesport models or pyrannah for speed.

-check out the EZG 50 pretty fast and easy for flatwater or for pure playboat check out the Project52

After having used a Dagger G-Force, Kingpin and Pyranha S6F I can say the Vision is faster and carves better than all these boats. Granted wave specific boats will be better but the vision is a great split between wave and hole performance.

I would go for the Vision 44, I am a little bigger than you and I think that the 56 is way to much boat. Try the 44, but watch ouy, they are also rumored to leak like mad!

weird, mine is amazingly dry. I've paddled a 2 mile class IV run in it and gotten out totally dry. Wildwasser or LC-1 or Wavesport drydeck skirt, all very dry on it.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.
I'll hopefully be demoing a Vision 56 in a few weeks time, I'll let you know how I get on.

for ocean surfing most playboats are too short and have too much rocker which doesnt lend itself to surfing in the ocean. BUT on rivers features they are awsome. To begin in surf you will still have lots of fun also try the small/medium Seven O your in the weight range plays well actually surfs well (for a playboat)! Im getting the Liquid Logic CR125 really comfy

I think it depends on what you are trying to do in the ocean. If you just want to Carve and go really fast down the waves, and do typical "Surf" moves, then yes, a regular playboat is probably too small. But on the other hand, the ocean is a great place to do other wave moves in a regular playboat. I am a pretty large fellow (6'2" 185lbs.) and I had a blast in a Necky Vibe, which is a pretty small boat, but I was getting lots of bounce, and it could spin really nicely, being so short. It all just depends on what you are trying to do.
