I bought the Fun series boats for my familly and for the Cornwall Recreational Whitewater Club (CReW Club).
There is no doubt (at least in my mind) that no matter what size (really big down to really small) that you are the Jackson Fun series has something to offer for you.
Unfortunately I can only tell you about the Fun series since I have not had the chance to paddle around in a Star series but the Fun is #1 in my books.
My 10 year old rides a 1.5 and is on top of his game.
I am using a 4 Fun and it is awsome.
My wife rides a 2Fun.
I have tried a whole lot of different boats (Dagger, Wavesport, Pyranha, Riot, old perception models) and nothing that I have tried in it's class is that comfortable or easy to paddle and bonus..it is not heavy. It runs rivers well and plays on the waves with the best of them.
If you lived around here (Cornwall Ontario) I would invite you out to take a ride in one of our club boats. All I can say is SWEET!
The 2006 outfitting is a really good fit and comfortable too.
FYI: I am not a dealer and I don't work for them but I have not been this happy with a boat in ages and do not hesitate to yell it from the roof tops.
Go take one for a boot and run it through the wash.
Good luck

AWESOME! the fun series are sweet, really good combo of riverrunner and play, definietly the best combo out there for it in my opinion except maybe the LL CR. The star looks nice to, i know a guy who nailed his first floop in an all star. Teh only thing i dont like about the one i was paddling wa that the backband kept on sliding down, otherwise, sweeeeeeet boat.

With the 2006 backband (rope adjustment) it eliminates the drooping. The rope pulls slightly upwards.
No more breaking plastic strap halfway down a long river run either..

I have a star and like it well enough. It can't be beaten for looping. I greatly dislike the outfitting though. The backband IMO is not good. I have a ratchrting backband( much better). The footbag is annoying and makes it so I never got the same fit. Now I have a bulkhead. The thigh braces are not secure like WS. So I have foam blocks on the side to get a tight fit. For serious playboating I would probaly do somework on the boat. For some people the outfitting works fine. I like WS outfitting best compared to LL, Dagger JK, and WS. Even with all the things mentioned, the star is awsome in a hole. If you have a lot of waves in your area I would get another boat.

There's a thread further down titled 'should I get a star?'

My only other comment on Jackson boats (I have a 2 Fun), is that every time I get into it, I have to do a lot of fiddling to get it feel right - I have to fiddle with the backband (I have a retro fitted one), and the foot bag and wiggle the hip pads around till I get it fitting right. I guess the problem with an infinitely adjustable boat is that getting it feeling exactly the same, every time you get in, is quite difficult.

steff

I have a 4Fun and love it. At 193cm and with size 13 feet I find it the most comfortable boat I have paddled for the size. No more shredded feet. The older rachet backbands are not the best but I find the happy feet and the thigh braces to be great. The low weight is also a benefit as is the fact you can stay dry the whole time, my mates are very jealous as I rarely have to empty my boat. Make sure you demo one and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

[color=cyan:a83cf40b57]Yeah, I love the Wave Sport outfitting. I never need to adjust my boat (ZG54). I just climb in and it's the same everytime. No nonsense. Can't comment on the Jackson boats as I've never been in one.

I absolutly love my Super Fun. got rid of my wave sport Super EZ for it. The foot bag takes time to get prefect but them it should be the same every time you get in (if you're doing it right). I strongly suggest the Fun series :D .

The only knock I've heard of on the star series is that they are slow

I'm currently in a Super EZ, like it fair enough, though I can't seem to get entirely comfortable - either too loose, or tight enuf, but in pain...
How is the Super Fun for 240lb paddler, 6ft, size 13 feet?

Can anyone draw more comparisions to the Super EZ, or a Dagger RX or other 'big boy' boats?

Comments appreciated! It's demo time!

I have paddled the the Dagger RX and I liked it a lot. It's a fine boat. I have a Superstar and I have much more room in it, plus it's more comfortable than the RX. I'm 6-0, 220, 11 feet. Another added bonus is the plastic is visible stronger on the Jackson. When I sat on the RX's backdeck, I felt it give underneith my fat A@#. Not good!

I have a Jackson Star and I LOVE IT! It can handle anything from playin' in your local wave to runnign big juicy class 4's and do it all wonderfully! I would highly recommend this boat. Plus you get that comfy little foot bag that makes your toes feel so nice and loved.

hey Star people. Check out the project. I personaly like it better, just demoed one.
Anyway, I'm buying 1.
The fact that I went to a playwave and could not get on it with my star, and some guy basically made me try his project and I not only caught the wave with ease, but I was shredding it. The project has bettter balance when cartwheeling. It throws down easier in flatwater.
