tall boater needs help with playboats 18 years 11 months ago #6266

Hey everyone,
My name is David. I have been kayaking for over a year and I am interested in playboating. Right now I have a Diesel 75 and, though I absolutely love it, it can't do shit on a wave or hole. I am 6'6, about 195 or 200 pounds, size 13 shoes, and am not flexible. After trying numerous big playboats, the CR 250, Pyranha 4 Twenty, Wavesport Super EZ, I am becoming discouraged because I can't fit comfortably in these boats (I can get in the EZ but it feels like a tub). My toes just always get crammed into the ends and I can't last more then 30 minutes before having to jump out of the boat. I am interested in the Bliss-Stick RAD 195. If anyone has any suggestions about the RAD or about any other big playboats for tall paddlers, please let me know! I really want to find something I can take to the play holes.

Hey there, I'm 6'4" with 38" inseam size 13 feet I can abrely shoe horn myself in a Diesel 75). I've tried the Super EZ, and totally understand the tub thing.

I switched to a Jackson Super Fun  and have way more comfort and room, the boat becomes an extension of me. I twitch my ankle or thigh and the boat re-acts.

Try one on for size, and give the foot bag a chance. I had foot bag issues until I talked to a team Jackson member who told me how to properly use it. Now I'm good it it for hours and hours

You might also try the Fluid Flirt L, I've never paddled one, but I've read reviews saying it was amazing. I am 6'2" 185, and I read that it is large for me, so it should fit you.

A Friend of mine is 185cm, 118kg's and he has a FLirt L, it fits him well with lots of room for a taller paddler. He loves it.

You would fit into a Jackson Super Star or Super Fun for sure. Also I have 2 friends that are around 6'-2" and 200 lbs plus, who both have Dagger Crazy 88's. They love them and when we paddle, they go for hours with no need for a break. Dagger generally make comfy boats. The RX is also sweet. I'm not a WS fan myself. I've owned 2 and could not stay comfortable in them. But that's me. I'm sure they are great boats for most other people.

If you can't demo one, just go to the shop and watch Wet House while sitting in the boat. After a couple hours, if your still comfortable, then you're well on your way to liking the boat. Plus it'll drive the salesman crazy!

I am 6`4 and 215 lbs and paddle a Jackson Superstar. It has plenty of room for me. It´s the first playboat I can fit in properly. Try one.

I'm 6'3'', have size 12 feet and weigh 180lb. I paddle a Riot Air 60, I'm actually a bit small for it, and it's a great play boat!

hey there. I am 6'4, 240lbs and paddle a pyranha S-8 235. It may be a bit longer that what you are looking for, but is comfortable even with my size 14 feet. I feel your pain. Try a Superstar or Superfun. I can get in both of those boats easily and they feel quite comfortable.

I'd be pretty sure the RAD 195 would be big enough and you should still be able to wiggle your toes!

I have had the same problem as you, I'm exactly the same size as you, and I went for the large fluid flirt, there's loads of room for my legs and feet and so far it seems to paddle really well, I've only had it for a week or so but I've taken it out and loved it.

Good luck in your search.

The big Rad is worth trying, my good friend is 6'7" size 14 feet and he still has a 3 inch thick foam foot block. Unfortunately for him he is only 150 pounds so he has a hard time throwin it down, but you'd have a ball in it. Its fast on a wave, and gets big air. Don't buy a used one the old plastic is shit, but the new ones are made thicker and sturdier. Its a good boat, no offense but screw that Jackson crap. I'm not a huge bliss stick fan but I paddle one over a jackson any day.

hey bro
im not as tall as you or have as big feet as you (big feet only mean big socks so don't get smart) but i am 100kgs of solid maori. anyway i paddle a bliss-stick flippstick and RAD 185, i have even squashed into a RAD 175 but thats not the point, the 185 is nice and comfy plenty of room so i would suggest the RAD 185/195. more the 195 tho being that tall.
what ever you decide have fun on those waves
:) :) :)
