Hey, my family is not a rafting family :( and we were thinking about doing a comercial rafting trip nextwinter, probaly somewhere tropical like chile, mexico, africa. My dad doesnt kayak but me and my brother do and were wonering if anyone new some sweet rafting trips that allow kayakers to tag along. Me and my brother are both solid class three-four paddlers, would be up to some fives most likely. Thanks.

[color=cyan:5b7cf45fe2]If you're thinking Africa then possibly the White Nile or the Zambezi. Both are nice and warm and very big volume too. My dad and I went on a rafting trip on the Zambezi and we both loved it. (in the days before I kayaked  ) Imagine water that is as warm as a luke warm bath.[/color:5b7cf45fe2]

Saf Par (Safari Par-excellence) are a good company based just outside of Livingstone on the banks of the Zambezi river at a great resort setting. Bring a load of bug juice though as the mossis are pretty bad there in the evening. Otherwise Sven at www.thezambezi.com can orgainize a whole trip for you including a multiday raft trip and accomodation in Livingstone.

On the White Nile NRE (Nile River Expeditions) are the company, again based on the banks of the river, with a great bar to watch the sun set and tell those evening stories over a beer or two.

Don't even know if this is how you reply... Neil's right, SafPar and Zambezi.com are both great companies on the Zam and are very accomodating to kayakers who want to do their own thing. Bundu adventures is another well established rafting company and is run by Nico Chassing. I've worked for them in the past and they're very helpful.
All the best and enjoy Africa

nepal, i am surprised noone mentioned it but, could also be the reason that there was war for the last few years....

but you wont believe it's over for good...thus the rafting destination number one (in the 90s) will be back on track...

there's plenty to do form easy floats to short kicks, medium or long expeditions...

kayaking all over the place and friendly people...

india is picking up too especially the big expeditions like zanskar and brahmaputra (a real world classic)....

more infos (details) on my website www.shivaoutdoors.com/boathouse

there's rafting everywhere in the world but with so many classics in a decently close proximity with the biggest mountains, some of the best treks, interesting culture, friendly people and warm water Nepal's hard to beat.

IF your after info on Europe then French alps could be a nice area to start with raft trips from class3-5 on runs on Gyronde, Claree, Ubaye, GUil also good place to get out and paddle most of the camp sites have a play spot close by, Austria also could be worth a look into. I believe Canoe Control offer rafting and kayaking holidays check them out
