Hi guys, has anyone had any durability problems with the new CFS? I've been told it's not as strong as the old one, but of course that information came from someone with an old version...

Anyway, will be using it on G4 and above, so would like it to be strong. Thanks for any advice

Hey man,

I wouldn't go near one if you paid me to be quite honest, I just broke one in the French Alps last week (Gash on hull about a foot long on a grade three warm up run) and my mate who was also paddling one stove in the nose and put a gouge that's nearly all the way through in the hull. It might be that we got unlucky because it's the same plastic (and more of it) as the mamba which worked worked out really well for me afterwards, but with the state of them after only a few river days without any really serious thrashing or anything I won't be recommending them to anyone or touching them myself.

:stop:

On the upside another mate has had one for years and only retired it this year (It was his mamba I was paddling after he went home) so if you can get one second hand you should be sorted.

Best of luck in your boat choice, but my opinion is they are cheap for a reason.

Conor.

i have been using my cfs since 2001...at it;s been abused plenty...

but so to speak, it came directly from the states...

then i have been using a nomad...which is solid too but seems to have a softer plastic (this one is european made)...

i complained/wrote to dagger (usa) and they confirmed that the boats are actually using a stiffer plastic then the cfs...which then left me even more confused as i am fully convinced that the material used on the nomad i am using now is definately softer...

anyway,,,still nothing did break and i (out of experience) have to say, that the cfs to me is one of the most solid boats out there...but so i have not tried one of the 'new' ones.....

could of been you guys were just unlucky I have seen many boats break on rivers normally due to the interesting lines the paddlers take but if they are new they should have a warrenty take them back to the shop were you got it from and see what they think
