Star or Allstar: What to Do? 18 years 9 months ago #7762

i really like the Jackson Star series and after demoing both the star and the all star i found that my legs are too big to fit in the star for more than a couple of months (16 and still growing) and the all star is a bit big for me to do the flatwater stuff that i want to be able to do (live in suffolk its completly flat here) .

has anyone got any suggestions?

im 110 pounds
32 inch inseam
5'8 ish

I'm 16
115lbs
5'5

I think the all-star would be way to big. I think you could fit into a project 45. The boat feels bigger on the inside than my star. You could cut back the center pillar to have more room. A lot of people do this so their heels can touch. I think the ZG48 would also fit you well. If all else fails take some steriods and put on a lot if pounds and get a super star. I've heard that boat loops well.

I would deffinetly go with the Star. it may be a little tight but for how light you are the All Star would be way to hard to throw around. Im fairly sure you'll have to screw with the outfitting though.

I paddle the All Star and weigh in around 190 to 200 lbs.. you would probably bob around like a cork in the All Star..

Well, I would not put the seat back too far in that boat. No joke, If you put your seat back much further than the middle posission forget ever throwing your bow under. Take out the center pillar and see how you fit. Don't forget that the star series was designed for short people so the seat is designed to be in a pretty forward possion. Ya know the star is only like 5'8 itself. It would impressive if you could preform well in it. Liquid logic is coming out with a new 49 gallon playboat. I would check out a project or ZG48 because it is bigger. Since you are so light for your height you will prob. have trouble with flatwater with every boat, till you put on more muscle or weight. Good luck on finding a boat that fits you. i knoe how frustrating it is being light.

Try squirt boating. It's a lot of fun and great for flatwater. There are now models of squirtboats that work for playboating too.

I wouldnt recomend taking out the center pillar it would make the boat really unsafe if you ever did anything the least bit hairy in it flat water it would be ok but if you where on a river and got broched, pinned or even lots of pressure from water coming down on it the boat could bend the boat entraping your legs. i would recomend taking out the happy feet and puting a little foam in or just straight booties. Also maybe try what Nathan said earlier, you could cut a small part of the center pillar out where youre feet are to make them fit better.

no, that's an evo. If your heavy and you remove all of the outfitting from the boat, I've heard it can work as a crappy squirt boat. I was talking about a fiberglass boat. You can pick up a used one for about 300-400 bucks. I love my squirt boat. It's great for attainments, surfing fast waves, working on playboating, and of course squirt boating. But an evo might be kinda cool,
