mad river defects 18 years 8 months ago #8409

Im currently looking at buying a mad river canoe from a local boat shop. These boats are way disscounted (1/2 off), as they say that they came from mad river with some defects. From what they say they were built to deep. I was wondering if anyone knew anything bout this? They,re telling me that they will sit a little deeper in the water and have some but not noticable drag. Please let me know yur opinion as I wanna get one tomorrow.
I gotta decide between a defected mad river or an upper canada canoe. Thanks

How noble of you. And why might an open boater deserve a bashing?

I know next to nothing about canoes - what I would say is that if the boat is defective its probably not going to be covered by warrenty if you happen to have any problems. That said if its only a minor defect and your not planning on giving it a bashing, then it might be a good deal.

yeah, that beats me too... alex, why would you even consider bashing an open boater?
If you're happy, you're successful.

come down chill out it will be allright, i like to keep up the friendly rivery between single and double blades. its not like i was going to actully bash him over the head with a paddle. although maybe that would be good for relieveing stress???? joke that was a joke. can we all go back to our normal lives?

I know that this has been up for a while so I don't know ir you will get it. If the boat has been built too deep then I would assume, working for a canoe manufacturer, that when they popped the hull from the mold they did not cut the hull down as much as they normally would. As far as it sitting deeper in the water that has to do with weight verses displacement. I suppose if the hull somehow has a greater \"v\" shape than normal the deepest part of the \"v\" would be deeper because it has to ride lower to get more water displacement.

If you are still covered by warranty then go ahead I say.
