I believe they are the 2007 Fun series. Notable features are the legitimate grab handle on the back, and the smoother lines throughout.

We should all know for sure on the 23rd, where I assume they are going to debut the new Rockers and maybe some other boats. I talked to a staff member over at Jackson, and he said they have been redesigning the Star series. I cannot confirm his statement, but we'll find out soon enough. As for know, I am going to call the new boat the FAR series. Part fun, Part star.

It looks to me like they are trying to make a playboat that is not poo on a wave. If they can make a boat that is as good on a wave as the star is in the hole they will have a good boat.
Unfortunatly as EJ is a hole specialist I guess this is a little out of his main area of expertese but still it will be interesting to see what they caome up with.

I think the new design will be pretty sweet, hopefully he won't keep calling the fun series a river runner because it's not, it's just a waveboat that didn't turn out too well.

EJ is certainly not shit on a wave but he is no where near as good on a wave as he is in a hole. I have no idea how well the design will work and until you have seen one in action, shouting about how sweet it will be could well leave you with egg on your face. It may be amazing but on the other hand it may be pants.

The time to discuss the relative merits of this boat is when we actually know what it is like.

I have no doubt that if it is absolutly pants then certain people will still rave about how amazing it is (hell people claim that the star series make good wave boats!). Likewise if it is awesome then there will no doubt still be those that diss it (some claim the star series are useless in a hole!).

I shall not pass judgement until I have played in one.

I wait to buy a boat until I see an average paddler on a boat. EJ prolly could make the FX look good. Dont pay attention to the hype and try it out. Dont prejudge cause it will cause false hopes

my friend just got back from canada and said ej was their trying out the new boats dont know know if they are the stars or the funs but just new boats i think

Just to let all you guys know....the New Jackson Fun, was used by EJ on the garberator and won US team Trials, Nick Troutman also used the new fun and won Canadian Team Trials and Stephen Wright won the first World Cup event in the Newn Jackson Fun!

Yea, we were trying to keep it on the DL until Gauley Festival, but now we are shipping them out to paddlers everywhere! A container is arriving in England this month too!

I have heard several comments on the Fun Series from people trying to figure them out from the photos.

1. The new Fun is a better river runner, that is more comfortable, fits a larger range of people, and is SUPER easy to roll.
2. The new Fun is an incredible wave surfing boat. Stephen won the World Cup event on the Garberator in the new Fun and I won the USA Team Trials in the new Fun.
3. Nick, Stephen, Clay, Emily, and I have only been paddling the Fun since it came out for playboating, and it is SWEET! loops bigger than an All-Star, is fast and FUN FUN FUN.
4. The new Fun is also much easier to flatwater cartwheel than the old one, even though it is 2 gallons more.


The new Rocker Series is another major step forwards for Jackson Kayak. The Mega-Rocker was the boat of choice for the Alceseca River Expedition in Mexico. Check out either www.jacksonkayak.com and look at the Hotel Charlie section, or look at www.jeffersonstatecreeking.com that Darin McQuoid did. With a surge of the top paddlers going after this boat as their new creeker, you'll be seeing them all over the place. I highly recommend you give the new Rockers (three sizes- Punk Rocker, Rocker, and Mega-Rocker) a good day out for yourself before considering any other creekers. YOU'LL Love it!

The new Star series aren't being talked about because we don't have them out yet! Team JK is WAITING for them, but not super patiently. Look for the chance to paddle one in January and February. I'll have mine right after the 1st of the year, sweet!

The 2007 Boat Armor Outfitting has been upgraded yet again! Better backband pads, better hip pads, and seat screws that stay on and tight, etc. etc.! Awesome!

Yes, there is alot of stuff going on this year. I believe it is the far and away World's Record- 11 whitewater boats coming out in 3 months!

Exciting times if you are a whitewater paddler. I am in hog heaven!

Thanks for the vote of confidence in holes! Luckily for me, I have alot of wave experience and time in and it has been paying off in the wave competitions, and boat design areas this year, sweet!

I can't beleive anyone has bad things to say about your boating. I have seen footage of your competitons and own the newest version of your Advanced Playboating DVD. People make conclutions based on their own egocentric point of view. The world is greater and more complex than human perception. EJ only able to do holes? HAHA that's rediculous... it's what you're most known for because you're so darn good at it. Ignorant statments like, \"Ej is absolute shit when put on a wave\" are comical. I've seen you do some sick moves and running sick rivers in you Playboating DVD's, which I HIGHLY recomend. Your Basics of Playboating has some great footage also, the older one when you were still paddling the Transformer. I really dig the \"voices in my head... telling me what to dooo...\" song. It gets in your head for sure. Anyhow EJ... take care and keep on keeping on. I've learned much about kayaking from your videos and website and you are a great spokesperson for our sport.

Back to the boats, I like that Jackson waits three years to update their boats, makes me believe the update will be worthwhile, unlike many that force updates every year and are overly redundant. Three years seems like the right amount of time to make some major adjustments that will be noticable.

I'm not too into river running playboats, but everyone seems to be raving about the new Funs, heard they release well for spins.

Personally I really like the look of the new rocker series, seems to be a style of boat I'll enjoy paddling.

I just got my Mega Rocker today. I took it for a spin ,and man does this boat turn fast. The old Rocker felt like a full sized pickup truck and the Mega Rocker feels like a sports car. My inicial impressions are very good about his boat. I'll keep you posted, as i start running some creeks in it.

Nathan, where do I begin with you. First, no I didn't detect sarcasm in your post. Secondly... I was being true to myself and honest with EJ by saying exactly what I thought, from the heart, without expectation or fear of judgment from simpletons like you.

I figured EJ probaly knew that he was a good kayaker and his pride was not injured by the posts of people who proably suck at kayaking. So I am done with discussing this because it is OT. You didn't hurt my feelings at all. I am 100% comfortable with who I am, what I say, and what I do. My opinions and points are based on principles, ethics, logic, and my mood at any given moment.
