Hey, can any of you guys reccomend some begginer white water rivers. Grade 2 to 3 is what I'm looking for, I've ran a few WW rivers before but nothing over a grade 2-3 and a grade 4 drop and that was flimsy. I just need to learn to read water and get confident on WW before getting onto bigger water WHICH is what I hope to be doing mid next year so I need rivers quickly! I live in south east area. Around Norwich but I have access to pretty much the whole UK.

for reading water the river dee saturday and then the trweryn on the sunday i just done that teaching a group who couldnt read water dee is a lil rubbish so you could go to the trweryn for a weekend great paddleing espcially if paddled from top to just after the centre much after the centre is grade 2 with one grade 4 drop! The upper dart is good if it has the water aswell as the tees which also has a very good drop (highest waterfall in england)!! Those are the rivers i recommend paddling to getting a good line

Great! Thanks for the advice. I think there's an organised weekend coming up soon on the River Tees, can't wait for that waterfall =D

Also, I've planned a trip on the 29th October to Nene white water centre for 7 of my friends and myself. It's not the readable water I want but it will help me with breaking in, out, ferry gliding and a lil bit of surfing.

The upper section of the tryweryn can be very off putting and from what you say sounds like it may be out of your comfort zone quite a bit! Have a look by all means and paddle the lower section as this will get you reading water and making lines in a more comfortable environment then drive bak up to the centre and put in at the top an give it a whirl!

I would also try south wales for lots of rivers of the grades you are looking for their are several bunk houses/ campsites etc around the brecon for the usk, builth wells for the hell hole section of the wye godd run all flows loads of rapids to practise and work over and for play
