school project on werner player 18 years 7 months ago #9534

hi just wondering if you could help. im doing a product analysis on the werner player paddle and would like to ask a few questions as part of the product analysis it will count towards my final A level grade at the end of this year.

Q1 what size paddle do you use and how tall are you in cm?

Q2 do you own any other paddles if so please state what one and what you prefer?

Q3 how long have you had your paddle?

Q4 what condition is your paddle in?

Q5 how often do you use it?

Q6 do you use it for flat or whitwater or both?

Q7 what type of kayaking do you mainly use it for?

Q8 have you had any problems with your paddle if yes please describe?

Q9 why did you chose this paddle?

Q10 can you give an example of strength and robustness e.g have you ever accidently bent it while paddling down a river and it sprung back good as new?

Q11 is their any thing you woyld like to change about the design?

Q12 any other comments about the paddle e.g the materials used or the design?

Hi hope you'll have lots of answer for your project.

R1: I got a 2m one and I'm 185cm tall (sorry I use only metric)

R2: That's my only decent paddle

R3: I had my paddle for about 7 month

R4: It's in good condition but got some scratches

R5: Every week ends

R6: don't really do flatwater except for the flat bits in between the rapids

R7: River running and a bit of play on waves and holes, I'm not really a playboater

R8: No problem, it's a great paddle

R9: Good brand, lightweight and had a good deal

R10: No real big test on this one, but a friend rolled over a few paddles with his SUV, the aluminium shaft ones got bent, a composite shaft got cracked, a werner shaft got no apparent damage

R11: The translucid paddle look great while new but the scratches are quickly changing the aspect. Lots of these scratches appeared off the river during transport

R12: other than that I'm really happy with this paddle!

Good luck for your project

Q1: 191 paddles (cranked carbon) and I'm around 180cm tall

Q2: I own some Werner player 194 cranked glass, and some seven2 194 airidiums, I prefer the Werners.

Q3 I have had the carbon set about 6 months, and the glass ones for around 2 years.

Q4 Both fairly used, but still good condition.

Q5 About 4 times a week.

Q6 Both flat and whitewater.

Q7 Playboating and riverrunning.

Q8 No problems at all.

Q9 As I wanted something that would last me a long time, and wouldn't break.

Q10 I've taken my carbon set down the ditch that is HPP every week and they have hardly been chipped or worn around the edges, and it normally destroys paddles.

Q11 For werner to find a way to make a cranked shaft out of only one part to give it more strength.

Q12 I much perfer the feel of the carbon blades to the glass blades, and they are more durable for what I use them for.

Q1 194cm (straight shaft, carbon) I'm 5'8\"

Q2 This is my only paddle

Q3 4 months

Q4 well loved (i.e. beat up!) I got it used. the paddle is in great shape, performs wonderfully, just well scraped on ends of the blades

Q5 Once of twice a week now, hopefully more when water levels around here start to rise in Nov.

Q6 both

Q7 whitewater, playboating

Q8 it gave me a nasty carbon fiber splinter once, but that was my fault

Q9 strong, light, great blade shape

Q10 this paddle has stood up to a lot and has no damage to show for it, outside of scratches.. very strong

Q11 my next paddle will be a werner player - but with a bent shaft (mine now is straight) and with the skinnier shaft

Q12 i love my paddle :bounce:
