Hiya,
Buy your self a good dvd... EJ's or Ken Whiting, so you can review them to your hearts content. Be patient being on the learning curve. DO NOT bypass the basic fundamentals of playboating or you will be banging your head into a wall later. Get the technique down first and time and practice will come power and finesse.
Paddle w/ people that are more skilled than you and learn from them, watching the moves on a video will only take you so far. Someone w/ a good eye to tweek your technique is the way to go.
Oh, of cours practice, practice, practice... did I mention practice.

Have fun!!

Spin is right, the DVD from EJ is realy good and will help you step by step;
It's worth the money!!!
...and join a club where they can teach you the moves and you can test some playboats!

I agree, get some videos. Both Ken Whiting and EJ videos are good and the \"Searching for teh Gee Spot\" is another perspective. Between all three of those you should be able to make some sense of things.

The great thing about videos is that they are usually full of more information that you need immediately, but with time you have yourself a wonderful reference resource to help encourage you to improve.

Think about this:
If you bought all three videos, you'd spend about $60.
What other piece of equipment costs as little as that and will help you as much?
I strongly encourage people to take lessons, but they are much more expensive.

Check out the Jackson site for some basic stuff
www.jacksonkayak.com/techniquesjk/techni...technique=roundhouse

see Corran's blog for lots of carving videos
www.2imagine.net/video.html

weekend clinics are good too
www.kayaklesson.com/intermediatekayaking.htm

I know you asked for internet videos but I can't think of any right now. If I come across some stuff, Ill post back on this thread.

You can get the videos at discount at Amazon or Ebay. Or, find a paddling friend or paddling club that has a good library of videos.

The DVD's are a good idea. As are some of the books by EJ and KW. In the meantime. Practise the very basics. Even just controlled back surfs and front surfs. This is very important. Moving around on the feature (wave/hole), left/right and higher/lower on the foam pile etc... :blah: Get relaxed and know where you are and how to get there. Then you're ready for spins and what not... The list goes on :-) Have fun! :roflol:
